Default AU Gas Economy

Just filled up, 14 litres per 100kms mixed driving. This was a great result because last week I was driving the car harder than normal.

What figures are others getting?

From memory, 14 litres per 100 is what the dedicated BA/BF's get. Mine is dual fuel. Not bad I reckon.

Between 14 and 16, 14 on trips and 16 on mixed driving.
This is with a 5.0 litre V8.
Mind you I do drive gently as it is a grandpa car!!!!

I run my VCT Ghia (petrol) on that ethanol mix 95 RON fuel from United - economy has improved to around 13 or 14L/100kms which equates to approx 400 ish kms per tank, all urban driving in Melbourne (stop/start/stop/start).

Considered LPG but need the boot space of folding rear seats.

I don't know how you boys do it.

I've seen a lot of gas falcons. These figures are very, very low from what I've seen.

I've got a factory dual fueller. Last night I achieved 17L/100klms around town. When i say around town, i mean never seeing more than a 60-70 zone.

When i flog her, i see 22.5L/100klms.

I tell you, in all my years of seeing different aftermarket gas systems, factory gas systems, harsh drivers, easy drivers, etc etc etc I have never seen under 17L/100klms from a gas falcon. ELs, AUs, BAs. Never less than 17L from a stock standard I6.

Very true. The sedan is my travel to and from work car, so no issue of lost space there. The family car is a wagon with the donut tank, so no real issues there either.

It'd be hard for a sedan that's also the family car if you've got youngens!

Something is quite wrong with your system. Unless it's an 8!

You could need to get the parafin wax (yes wax!) cleaned out of the converter and get the whole system tuned up again.

Perhaps new plugs and leads and air filter would also help. The O2 sensor is another thought.

Hope those ideas are of assistance.

All the best with it.

As stated earlier I consistently get 6km/litre ( approx 16 litres per 100 km ) around town so I know that if I travel 360km it will take 60 litres of gas.
If it gets worse than this it goes in for a gas tune.
On trips I do better than 7km/litre ( approx 14 litres per 100 km )
This is on an aftermarket duel fuel 5.0 litre V8.

As a side note I have a 1993 4.5 litre 6 cyl Landcruiser also on gas and consistently get 5 km/litre ( 20 litres per 100 km ), so you are not doing too well if you are only getting 4.5 km/litre

Abput 17 for mixed/going to work and back and around 10-11 for pure highway driving. I use to get better economy just after I had it installed so I had the mixtures reset recently but it hasnt all changed much.

Mine is factory dual fuel and at the moment I'm getting around 5.6k/litre or 18 and a bit litres per 100k. Mostly around town with a couple of 1/2 hour runs on the highway. I always thought it was a lot better when I first got it 3 years ago.
