Get ultralows! I got them on my EF and I love them, no problems really with being too low as everyone said I would get, as long as your careful you'll be fine. Looks tough!! I don't regret it.

I went with King lows with a bodykit. Probably superlows for you.
Are they 18" or 19" rims. Roll your guards if they are 19". If they are 18" make sure your shocks get replaced at the same time useless they are in VERY good nic.

Superlows will end up being between 645 and 650 mm from the ground to guard lip. Lows/XR height is around 665 front, 670 rear. SSLs drop it down to about 630/635, and Ultras are around 620/625.

My advice is to go Superlows, as the car looks (and is) low, but still retains some comfort and practicality.

On a side note - if you want to get rid of your front XR springs after fitting the SLs, please let me know. I am willing to pay $30 for them, plus postage. They will be replacing the SLs in the front of the wagon - going for comfort more than height on the family car. If you are interested in doing a swap of my fron King SLs for your XR springs, I'm happy to be in that, if you pay postage costs. I also have a set of rear SLs for IRS that we could include in some sort of deal too.

Remember the back always sits up higher on the Au's. One thing to remember if you go lower than low & keep the same shocks they will not last. You will eventually need shocks with a shorter throw length.

go with the superlow and new shocks, and maybe in the future new bodykit, bodykits make the car seem a little lower aswell same with the rims.

Its' funny how each person has different tastes about how low to drop the car.

I like XR height, but with larger rims (have 16's) I would probably go a little lower than "lows" or stock XR height.

All the best with it.

I went king superlows with monroe GT's. I've got a bodykit and haven't scraped the car yet. I work at woolies so theres speed humps everywhere too.

Sorry the car is so filthy.. it hasn't been this dirty in ages but it just stopped raining today.

Exactly, I think i've got something like 70mm gound clearance to the lowest point. It's 580mm exactly from the bottom of the rim to the wheel arch on each corner, a perfect job.

The only problem with this is that i'm 99% sure that you got to have at least 100 mm of clearance, and they will notice. A bloke that lives round the corner thought that 65mm clearance would be a good idea, cept that when he manages to get it out of the drive way he can't go round two corners without getting a canary

Go to the wreckers, find someone that recently wrote off there car and get their springs. I got pedders springs and shocks right the way round installed for $400.

or you can get second hand XR6 or XR8 gear aswell. People were quoting me $1200 for aftermarket equipment with the ride height and handling of an XR6, so before i found the pedders stuff i decided i wasn't paying that much and went to the wreckers to get the genuine xr6 stuff, thats were i found the pedders gear.

Id rather spend the 1200 and get all brand new stuff. If you go and get the shocks and stuff off an old XR6, they are going to be a few years and probably over 100k's old. Just my opinion only, and not a dig at anyone.

Guys, one thing to consider is the hassle with drive line wear and component wearing. I had my AUII XR8 lowered with super lows in the rear and lows in the front. Being this low put extra strain on the steering rack because the "arms" were at a wierd angle when joining into the hub. Had it replaced once. Second one wasn't looking too flash. The rear wasn't much better coming out of the diff. I have just put my original tickford springs back in. Man, I tell you what a difference going from the king springs with Koni adjustable shocks to the tickford springs with the koni adjustable shocks. The tickford springs have a much much much better ride and general driving experience. I should never had put the king springs in. Sure it looks 25mm higher and doesnt quite have the visual agression, but it is well worth it let me tell you. So, in closing, those that are really serious about lowering their XR should just think that they will definitely be taking a step backwards in ride quality and general handling. Good luck with it though anyhow if you do decide to do it. And just to add, those that don't have the tickford suspension should probably ignore my comments because this doesn't apply to you guys.
Leon.

I dunno, about the ride quality, took a series 1 au xr8 for a drive and it was so floaty and indirect it felt like i was driving a boat. I assume it would be different with the tickford suspension but i'm so glad i've got the pedders stuff on, its just so direct and the cars really handles well

Like I said, Tickford suspension great, other suspension, ok. For those of you that go super lows. Don't say I didn't warn you. Enjoy it while it lasts. I did. I know it looks great, but be prepared to put up with repairs and having to dodge every little bump to aviod taking out body kits and the likes.

I just measured my car's height from ground to guard lip.

Front = 635mm

Rear = 640mm.

These springs were supposed to be off a Series II XR8. Does it look like I've got something else?

(Might explain why it rides like it's got bricks instead of springs. LOL)
