Default New Oxy Sensor - cant find it

I have the new sensor ready to fit, but for the life of me i cant find where it is...can someone tell me please ?

what do i have to do to replace it ? unplug first ? can i leave the batteryconnected?

unscrew counter clockwise like normal ?

how tight do i have to tighten it back up ?

anything else to be aware/careful of ?

It plugs into the exhaust.. below the manifold.
Just unplug the ires first and then unscrew it as per normal. Screw the new one in (decent tightness, similar to a sparkplug) and replug in the wires.
You dont need to disconnect the battery but its probably better to do so to reset the ECU.

ive never changed a spark plug

say hand tightness plus 1 revolution with a shifter ??

Disconnect the battery before you start, this way you can reconnect as soon as you have replaced the sensor, start the car and check for leaks and tighten as needed.

Have a really good look at the old one, how far in it goes etc.

Undo the old one, and see the thread length.

Screw the new sensor in until it becomes hand tight. Check to make sure that there is no thread still needing to be wound in (Remembering from the old one, and what you can now see on the new one). Then using the shifter, nip it up a little. The sensor itself is small and won't need Herculean strength to keep it in.

See how you go.

All done

And it was that easy...

I left the battery unpluged for 10mins.

Then when i plugged it back in it came up with mode on the dash

It this enough time to reset the ECU ???

There was nothing wrong with my car, i just wanted to get better fuel economy.

I wont know if it has worked until i go through a few tanks.

1st tank will probably be worse than before due to ECU relearn. Tank after that should give you results.

it will learn anyway, it'll just take longer thats all, and probably use more fuel in the process...the learn procedure is just basically so it knows what speed to idle at in gear, out of gear, air con on and air con off...then the drive is just to get mixtures right for cruising and accelerating again

i should warn you though that you may experience unstable idle and stalling if you let it relearn itself...you had better watch out for this especially in an auto being that you can't restart it in gear

Yeah it has alot of unstabling idling ATM, and it seems to have a little more troulbe starting up.

WIll this fix itself ? If so, how long will it take ?

no, it doesn't, but disconnecting the battery does....maybe also give your ISC valve a clean if you haven't already

isc - idle speed control, looking from the front of the car, theres a metal thing with a wire hanging out of it on the throttle body, where the intake pipe connects to the engine, to the right of that...thats the isc valve, this is the thread relating to where it is and how to clean it
