Default 6 cyl rego cost in QLD

Just a quick one seeing as I have not owned a 6 cyl car in QLD for some time.

Whats the cost of rego for a 6 cyl these days? 6 month preferable.

Yes I know it will pend what CTP insurer you're with.

$1080? That can't be for a six, surely... Unless they are going by number of cylinders in conjunction with GVM these days?? Which would explain why my dub is substantially "cheaper", being the spry wee thing that it is... I still believe it's too much... I like the sound of $112 a year much more.

About $1000 for my V8 EF these days. Unreal.

But it's worth every cent when I turn the key each morning.

Yeah coming from vic that was a shock. Some bonehead must of made the assumption that v8 owners can flip a bit more if they dont care about using a bit more fuel.

That makes me a bit angry, and then they hide behind the green card saying that it will discourage people buying v8s to save the earth....

All the while we pay more tax through the extra fuel consumption...which is fine its our choice but the rego difference is silly.

Cool Re: 6 cyl rego cost in QLD

Dont know where you get the 50% discount for being a pensioner
My normal rego for my BA Ghia six is $827 for 12 months
the Mrs has a Territory Ghia and it is $605 on pensioner rego
I am on an old age pension like her but here in the sunshine state
you can only have one pensioner registered vehicle per address
god help you in an old ladies retirement home
with 100 people there
thats with third party but not transfer fee if its the first rego
also here in QLD as far as I know there is no discount for living in the outback
also for a V8 its over $1000 and if its a V8 ute
you better have a big bank account
because ute drivers are hoons so expect to pay more
try $3k for a body truck or $15k for a road train
Im flat out paying two regos
thanks John

Yep there is something wrong ,as we have the worst roads in australia ,no doubt ,we just took a trip down through nsw and vic ,the roads are just wonderful ,we have goat tracks north of the sunshine coast and by the time you get to cairns ,well lets just say the highway doesnt get better ,our local councill rates here are about 3k plus the water rates thats another 2k per yr ,it really is getting a bit out of hand with the power bills now increasing ,ive got no idea how people are surviving without having 2 good incomes

Mate seriously its just utter price gouging.......I dont know who's supposed to be running the show properly i voted libs and have seen NO changes yet.....

Abbott has just said he's going to cut power bills by a whole $200 per year....What a bloody joke!

Just waiting for the day Petrol goes to 1.60 and over.....That'll really screw it all up!

The only way i can see out of it is solar power system, lpg cars, led light bulbs, and anything that can cut costs down?

A mate explained the power situation like this..... They privatised the power companies and prices went up so consumers started using less, so the companies put the prices up again, and the consumers used even less again and so on it goes...Now its just beyond the joke!

I pay $150 average a quarter for electricity. Might be a bit higher this 1/4 with the air con use. No I do not turn off any switches or anything like that, new house built here must meet fairly stringent "green" electricity requirements. Same with water.

Thanks all for the responses, our car direction has taken a different turn.

Used to be 400 for me a quarter but now have a wood heater that I feed from my back yard, and 6.9 kw solar system.

Poor buggers with grid power up here will be getting rises of 20% from these ********* in government.

Rego would now be the dearest in Australia.
Even our fuel is nearly always a couple cents a litre dearer

QLD being a cheaper state to live in fast becoming a falicy

That POS Beattie.
When that oxygen thief was Premier and drained the Qld treasury, one of his last gasp solutions was to ramp up regos with the glib statements that V8's create more pollution so should be punished. ( Reality - get the greens on side)

That POS Beattie.
Held a press conference (as usual) and told any idiot that wanted to listen that privatising (selling) utilities would create competition and therefore lower prices. DUH!!

and don't forget that POS Newman is ramping up prices of the generation to kill electricity users even more.
He has also increased the fines, the tolls, taken away levies that were funding Ausfish and now paying fishery staff. and that's just a few.

Don't just single out Beattie.
Politicians in this country owe us all an apology for the **** they put us through.

Speaking of 6 cylinder rego. My old XR5T had to have 6 cylinder rego. Of course they would round up, not down.

Same as rotaries I think, pretty sure they got whacked with 6 cylinder rego, when they don't have any cylinders.

I pay $2600 a year for power.
For comparison mine is 3br home, with 2 adults and 2 kids. Electric hwu, electric oven and hotplate.
My biggest bill is about the same as yours, so it's no cheaper.

House and contents is a killer where I live. Close to $3k a year because I live in a cyclone area. Hoping to move further south soon!

So if their reasoning was that they create more pollution then was there a discount for LPG? I'll bet there wasn't.

Cant solely blame the pollies for all the "For Lease" signs and vacant premises, take a close look what we all buy ,and where its from,we all wether we want to believe it or not are in some part to blame for all theses "For Lease" and vacant premises everywhere
Many ,many are making more $$$ selling purely on line rather than shop front

That there alone is the reason electricity bills are huge.

I have electric oven. Thats it, everything else is on gas ($120 for a 45kg cylinder, lasts 3-4 months in winter and around 6 months in summer)
