Default My new BA G220

After the death of my loved TE50, I wanted something different. Always liked the understated, classy look of Bseries Fairmont Ghias and Fairlanes, and their fully equiped interiors. Perfect as a daily cruiser. I wanted 3V V8, as getting a 6 just wouldn't cut it. After finding not many 3V Ghias, I started looking at Fairlanes, G220's in particular. I checked out couple of cars and came across this one. Owned by mature owner, who looked after it very well.

'03 model, Blue Pearl color, with Redline interior. Dealer fitted heavy duty tow bar and trans cooler. XR6 17's were put by previous owner. I had a choice of them or stock G220 ones. My brother liked XR ones better, and since they're going on his BF, I chose them. Previous owner also spent $4.5K on a SVI LPG system, which is a bonus, much cheaper to run.

Picked it up last tuesday, and took a few quick pics

Cheers Julza, it brings back memories from old Topgia days. This time its a G220 with a V8, drives really well, considering the size and weight. Not quite as good as my TE50, but its a different sort of car, more luxury cruiser than bruiser lol.

Treatment will be very simmilar to old Topgia, mesh wheels, lowering, quads etc.

Put up some photos of the car with the new wheels Bud. Very nice.
Looks like I might be buying a Fairlane as well, but a ZH instead. Hopefully I'll have it by Monday.

Thanx mate, I should be able to take a day off work, so I can come to the cruise.

I've lowered the car couple of days ago, just King's SL's all round for now, sits much better. I will do the shorter shocks and swaybars in the future too.

Atm I'm runing 17's at the back, until I do the rear guards, as its scrubbing big time! I was expecting that lol, +20 offset rears need some guard space. I booked it in for next tuesday to see if I can get away with just rolling, if not, than flaring it will be.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

NOW THAT IS A GOOD WHEEL CHOICE! Completely changes the car. For some reason, I just cant stand those XR rims on the B series 'lanes. Or AU. Not Bad on the NL/F/C's though. Must be the body shape..... And again

Looks great Bud - rims looks superb and make the XR look so ordinary.
Mate can you do a closer side on pic and another side on close up of the wheel when you can.
Chrome side mirror scalps will look great.

I personally would love to see the pumped guards. Would match that V8 noise and the wheeel combo quite well.

Jack I might get away with just rolling them, we'll see on tuesday.

V8 noise is not there yet, I think DiFilippo dual catback will fix that. Exhaust might be on hold atm, I need to get new TV, my current sony 3lcd projector is on its last legs.

Yesterday I fitted BF taillights, Philips Crystal Vision globes/parkers, and cupholder without the lid, all from FTG. I had a good chat with Chris while there, he reckons TE will be back on the road in a month.

On monday I'm picking up chrome mirror covers, hopefuly getting rid of the towbar as well.

Some great improvements already, Wheels look really nice compared to the XR's or the Std package.

This will make a great cruising car, the BA/BF Fairlanes can look really nice when given a Semi-Sports type stance .

Thanx guys, yeah the idea is to make it a nice daily cruiser.

For next month at least, car will stay as it is. I laybay'd a new Sony 55'' tv couple of days ago, so after I pay that off, exhaust is next on the list.

Munkky the plates will stay til I get new custom ones. I have a few ideas...just gotta pick one.

Guards are rolled, and it made an improvement as far as clearence, but.....tyres are still touching the area where rear bumper meets the guard. So, I'm gonna have to get 245/35 tyres and stretch them over rear wheels. Thats the only option left.
