Improving fuel economy?

Hi guys

I've got an EB Ghia V8 that is my daily driver and I'm looking for any ways to improve my fuel economy.

I do ~60km a day.
About 90% of my driving is highway, cruising between 80-110kmh.
My current fuel economy is between 12-13l/100km.
Mods are - Extractors, 2.5" exhaust, EL GT snorkel. The car is a 5.0 auto with a 3.23 lsd.

Are there any simple/cheap things I can do to improve my economy, has anyone had any good results with J3 chips? any driving techniques that can help?

BTW Replacing the EB with a more efficient car is out of the question

That seems high for mostly highway driving

I have a 6 that's had a lot of work done to it together with a 3500 histall and mind is around that with mostly mountain driving @ 60klms/h - going up a hill with 3500 histall is like riding the clutch all the time

I would take it to a Dyno Tuner and run it up on the Dyno to see if it's stock tune and afr's are correct - obviously you service it properly, new spark plugs, new leads, fuel filter, oil filter, exhaust doesn't leak and cats aren't blocked

If you Dyno it they will be able to give you a better idea

Also consider replacing the O2 sensors and maybe cleaning out the MAF?

My old XR8 (EL 1 so same engine as yours) had 3.45s and I used to get better fuel economy than that with the same mods so there is definately some improvement to be had.

Yeah it does seem pretty high fuel usage for the driving that I do.

I'll change the plugs soon - no idea how old the current ones are. Same with the fuel filter. The exhaust seems fine, the engine revs out cleanly (as cleanly as a E7TE headed Windsor can anyway) and it doesn't feel like the cats are blocked.

Can I clean the MAF using electrical contact cleaner?

I dont think you can really clean O2 sensors

check your brake calipers arent sticky or frozen.

yes contact cleaner works on the MAFs, I use it on mine.

Tyres were 32psi front 23psi back, so I pumped them up to 40psi front 36psi back lol.

Cheers I'll give the maf a clean and see if it makes a difference.
