Bit confused by this... your profile says you're in Sydney, I'm in Newcastle. But yeah, the engineer can't do the drive cycle test for emissions, it would have to go to Sydney. That's what attracted me to the CAPA kits in the first place, they are supposedly EPA tested on a standard car for emissions. For the sound testing, the engineer said it would have to pass a static test, but I didn't clarify whether he would do that himself.

That's why I'm here. I want to find out all the gotchas before I start so I can
minimise the hassles later on, thanks for taking the time to pass on the issues you know about.

BTW do you know what an EPA emissions test costs? I'd be interested in this kit if it and testing came in cheaper than CAPA's kit. I've heard that in Vic they charge $15K to test emissions?

It's EF-AU focused given it's driven off the serpentine belt and is plumbed into a BBM manifold. However, it may be possible to use of the some kit and do the rest yourself, I'm not sure.

I've been checking out other kits' websites. Raptor's BA/BF kit also has an exposed pod and Snort's website has plenty of pics of customers car with unboxed pods too. AFAIK CAPA's setup is to mount the pod in the bumper so at least it's out of the engine bay?

There are options for boxing a filter for a turbo setup, but how would you go about boxing in a pod on a S/C?

It's one of the dumbest rules iv'e ever seen but it's a rule, iv'e seen a totally stock 2 day old evo 7 get defected for having a pod filter in a massive RTA/EPA/Police blitz in sydney. My Pod sat behind my left hand fog light and i left the fog light out and the pod was visable, everytime i got pulled over or got dragged through an RBT i'd nearly get a defect for it. Eveytime i talked my way out of it.

Easiest way i can think of is to run a filter assembly off a Ba xr8, they run a pod filter in a cone shaped box. Have a look around the forums and you should find what im talking about.

Exactly the same untill you mash the go pedal, thats the beauty of a blower. Unless the cam has extreamly wide lobe center's.

The engineering costs etc to go forced induction are nowhere near as bad in NSW as VIC.

Sorry my bad. Forgot my location didn't show as Newcastle. That's why I'm trying to find out EPA cost in NSW. Any idea?

Sorry did I miss something. What blower is this kit using? I notice you don't mention oil feed/drain lines when talking about fitting. Is it a powerdyne or vortech sealed unit?

Any which way its an excellent price. Wish this had been around 6 months ago. I wanted a supercharger but settled for a turbo.

Not really, but does do a nice whine from the engine bay. A V8 will give you a nice exhaust note.

Thanks everyone for their patience - some pics at last! As you can see, the most important parts of the kit are there - bracket, pulleys and the supercharger unit. Pipework to come obviously (CAI to s/c, s/c to existing pipework), and the belt needs to be put on, but with those in place, it's tune and away!

To clarify, this is not my car, but it is the first customer car being used at the prototype mule for the kit. I've been told two more weeks or so to finish it off and it'll move into production.

Nope, not mine. I havent made a decision on what I'm doing next.

Besides, got to get these brakes on first before I start adding that sort of extra power.
