i haven't looked into the topic much, but i've heard that the actual installation of the mechanism is what costs the most, andthat the actual mechanisms themself are only a few hundred $, if you can find someone that is willing to put one in for a bit of cash under the table i'd say that figure would drop significantly... but then u have to sacrifice rights to warranty etc.. but otherwise yeah around $2g is what i've heard for all up cost from a sunroof installer.

Heard exactly the same thing from a panel beater. Apparently the drainage is a real issue and cars with factory sunroof have good ducting which vents in the right spot to prevent rust.
In sydney an electric one will cost you between $2500 -$3000 installed. Just google Van Holland in an Australian search and that will point you in the right direction.

www.webasto.com.au

Poor drainage and associated problems are due to careless installs and dodgy work.

I know a few people with the webasto sunroofs not in a Falcon but a 200SX, Skyline and Soarer. No more than $2000 installed. Forget panel beaters go to the specialist and get it done right the first time.
