When im on the road i sometimes observe 'groups of people' and vehicles they drive. Ive noticed alot of mazda cx7 drivers are fairly young single. IMO this market of buyers would be attracted by this new terri. A very nice vehicle it is! Well done Ford Aus.

The new Tezza needs a 2500kg towing capacity. Most caravans are now around 2 tonne. 2300kg towing capacity isn't quite legal. That would increase sales..Mitsu and Nissan have increased their towing capacity....

2300kg is only going to be 'not quite legal' if the owner of the vehicle exceeds the GVM - its not Ford's problem. Don't exceed the rated GVM of the car and you won't have a problem.

I think it has been said the towing capacity has been upped to 3 tonne anyway - it was posted in one of the threads.

I dont see why they would. The vehicle has been pushed as an SUV that feels like a car to drive and not a truck. If they jack it up they will ruin the it. Optioned factory loweredon the other hand.....

3 tonne! No way...? What a coup if it is. I was think it would be more around the 2.5 tonne mark.. It would be good if the ute got the upgraded tow rating too.

Personally I think the Territory could afford a 10mm increase in ground clearance with how good it drives at the moment.

Only for people that go full on bush bashing in their Territory and you could probably count on your hands the amount of Territory owners that do. And they are all probably members of this forum!

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure a towing capacity increase was mooted because there were some structural changes made under the car.

EDIT: I've just checked, I was wrong. More like 2500kg.

Yeah but half the appeal of cars like this is to give the illusion of hitting the outback. So few do need full capability, but it does sell cars. People want to be able to think they can go off-road even if they never do.

I doubt we will see any increase, we would already be seeing mules sporting more ground clearance.

Plastic wheel arch extensions, 15mm lift, taller rugged tyres coupled with the diesel would be a popular little option pack. But I realise there is only so much money going around to develope these things.

Probably a new model code all together. "A" and "B" series didn't last long, so Ford seem to put out a new code for every major model change these days.

60% of Territories sold are RWD-only versions which suggests that the appeal of this vehicle has little to do with a perceived off road capability and more with having a flexible family wagon that simply works. Ford made no secret of the fact the Territory was not a bush basher and was developed to replace the traditional sedan and family wagon and it shows.

This will be interesting, how much would the shape and interior change? I wonder if ambulance victoria will still use these as paramedic cars now that everything is going to have to be changed.

Can't see why not. They went from EF/EL/AU to VX/VY/VZ to Holden Adventra to the Territory.

Just caught a glimpse of a white one flying down Taylor road, keilor downs, opposite direction to me. It had as little cladding as a bikini model. headlights and taillights in full view. Front end resembles the latest vw golf/ford escape and rear end is reminiscent of ve sportwagon at first glance. The carryover middle section stuck out like a sore thumb though.

Were the tail lights completely different or the same shape as the current ones, but with different internals?

Yes, but the problem is the companies who convert the car into a mica paramedic need to redesign all the equipment so it fits in.

Also there is talk of AV ditching the Territory because of its "bad handling" O_o.

I see what you mean but don't think the interior shape will be changed all that much if at all (hopefully). The ones I see fly past on code 1 calls every day seem to handle quite fine!

Appeared to be a different shape altogether. They wrap around more to the edges, like the VE sportswagon. Also appear to be higher up and stop halfway down, whereas the original territory lights went down all the way.

saw a new terri last night on the ring rd going the opposite way, had much less cammo on it & with what i can see it looks like the rear tail lights look similar to the fg...

no, western ring rd headed from nth, suburbs towards geelong / city ... it only had the black stickers on the sides but im pretty sure the side of the taillights had the same shape as the fg ones..
