Aha, I think you've just pinpointed an anomaly in the new price structure, look:
SS-V $45,490 (-$9800)
SS-V Redline $51,490 (-$6300)

Why is SS-V down $9800 but SS-V Redline only down $6,300?
That actually looks like a big price pull back by Holden, maybe protection for entry level HSV Clubsport?

I think Redline is getting some unique features like launch control and colour head-up display.

Rumour has it VF Clubsport will be mid 50s. But I dont believe it.

The only way Clubsport will be priced lower is if Holden sells the basic to HSV for less which could be true.
And what does that do to resale value of existing HSVs....down the drain.

The other side of the coin, how will Ford respond?
Ford has to for sure but like the rest of you, we still don't know what they have apart from cut throat pricing...

Anyone get the feeling that Holden is putting the sleeper hold on Ford and trying to take the last of large car market away from them?
If Ford isn't careful here, a lot of undecided buyers may just do that and leave Falcon sales in jeopardy - I hope not for all our sakes...

No matter what either do, it's a pretty damn good time to be a consumer, new or used.

So in a way Holden has risked large sums of money to increase production volume by reducing profit per car,
that would seem to be the exact opposite to what Ford has been doing with right sizing to the market...
Fair comment mate, I was thinking the same actually, the sales of big cars has been bleeding away year on year, its hard to see the trend reversing even if their is a slight jump in sales with the model updates.

Am I wrong or is Holden about to pull the old SV8 switcharoo trick by renaming Berlina as the new sub $40,000 "Calais"?

$4,500 for launch control and head up display, wow bargain. Sounds like one for the sheep.

Got a list, the Redline adds to the SSV the following:

Brembo brakes
Forged 19-inch alloy wheels (4)
Colour Head-up Display
Forward Collision Alert
Lane Departure Warning
Updated FE3 sports tuned suspension
Nine-speaker Bose premium audio
Sunroof

Brakes and wheels were $1,500 on the VE, while the sunroof and stereo are a $2,500 pack on the SSV (I don't think they're thrown in on the redline). The rest of the kit is filler which should've been standard on the SSV, they're just holding back some kit to justify the price hike.

Scratch that, I stand corrected. Sunroof and Stereo is included so the other stuff is $2,000.

http://www.carsales.com.au/news/2013...-details-36524 8.3L/100 ADR for Evoke, everything else is much the same.
I am sick of the 72.5kgs being mentioned, If its 40kg lighter, then just say 40kgs. You don't hear Range Rover or Jaguar saying " If we didn't put new features in, we'd save 500kg!!!". It just makes them look dumb IMHO.
