I look at it this way:
If your buying performance parts that have the the FPV badge on them, then so be it! No harm in showing where you get your parts from. A good comparison is all the parts available from subaru spare parts that are literally littered with the STI logo. All good showing the badge as its the part that you bought. Issue comes in when people replace their badge with a higher product when it isnt. This instantly causes digress amongst car lovers and generally results in the owner being called names of all sorts. Example: a very well dressed BMW M3, which has CSL parts on it but then you look and they have put the CSL badge on it... FAIL. Or the more common i see around is your average XR6/XT with an FPV badges on it. If you dress your car nice, and mod it appropriately - those who's are in the know will instantly appreciate it for WHAT IT IS, not WHAT IT IS TRYING TO BE. NOTE: For the record, i am not against a SS/SSV being badges with chevy badges. It has a chev engine, so what. I do find the SV6 with chev badges rather odd considering it has an Australian built motor (99% sure of the SV6 motor being oz designed, may be wrong...)

I thought holden sold some ss commodores with chev front end chev badges. For me that validates all ss cars wearing them (not my taste though)

So judging by your comment, you should like Holden as it has the American alliance, like Ford.... The gov't propping up the car manufacturing industry is a bloody good idea.....Saves Thousands being unemployed and needing another career (so that saves tax payers money) You have obviously not seen the HSV badge either....A Lion (I think) within a helmet....(acknowledging the motor racing alliance)..

a little off topic but theres a guy down the road that brings what I assume is his work car home every now and then. Its a BA falcon ute with a Toyota badge on the grille Had to look twice the first time I saw it
Pretty sure they were badged as Pontiac's. I know someone that bought one new and pretty certain it came with Pontiac badges

I don't let it bother me at all. A guy in the US spent thousands converting his Pontiac back to Commodore spec as closely as possible whilst adding his own touches to it. I take my hat off to the bloke because that is a dam nice looking G8/SS!
And he comments how the Pontiac guys have a go at him when he shows up to a Pontiac meet. Check out the video to it below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1k_XIvqmvg |

What about FPV badges on the BA/BF FPV cars?? They are FPV's but came with the standard ford badge off the factory showroom.

A little childish me thinks. But each to their own. I guess being argumentative and rude to others seems to be fine however..

I know many years back people used to put "GT" badges on all sorts of Fords...there were many "GT Falcons", there were a few rebadged GT Cortinas, and there were even a few of the ultra-rare "GT Escorts" around...
Doesn't seem to happen as much anymore with the FPV, or even HSV badges. Maybe if Ford had some different division where the engines were (once) sourced from which overseas in the USA was its own badge, we might see people putting some odd badge on their Falcons to describe, however inaccurately, the engine? Who knows. |

Wasn't the whole Chev badges on GMH vehicles originally because back in the day, when people did some decent work on their Holdens, like a new chev motor, they stuck the bowtie on to show to others what theyve done and they mean business? (along those lines??)

For those era cars you mentioned was not chev badges but chev decals on rear windows is what I remember, the chev badges seem to appear from the VN's onwards.
