Once you drive a V8 there is not going back. V8's will live for ever.

Rubbish! I started with an 8 and have owned 2 turbo 6's since.

For power go turbo. For street presence in our revenue state go the 8!

So true man.

Sure Turbos are quick but V8s still have the "Head ripping" sound that everyone looks at.

put a turbo on an XR8 as suggested www.ls1turbo.com.au shows LS1 turbo going up to 750kw / 1250Nm, i am sure the Boss can do something like that too

V8 may sound good but its boooooooooooorrrrrrrrring and thirsty (boring unless it is supercharged and whines like the AMG Mercs).

Turbo all the way, can't get enough of that turbo rush

V8. A second or two down the quarter means sfa when your car sounds a million times better and you can still get decent times out of it in summer.

I am not a fan of Turbos or SCs. I prefer a V8 anyday.

Oh yeah, stop all you Prius people, the XR6T gets 50 miles per gallon!!! hahaha.... you don't buy either one of them for fuel economy, and there would only be marginal improvement on the 6 when the turbo isnt working it, ya wouldnt take the T over the 8 on economy, describing one with a window sticker that says 13.5 as "thirsty" and one with a window sticker that says 12.5 as "economical" is stupid I am in favor of turbo-charging the V8!

That is so overrated.

I dragged my XR6T on a 38 degree day and still nailed a 14.02!

Plus it was only my second run of the day with a crappy launch. (The rest of the day got cancelled due to a dust storm.. )

Oh, no where near as heavy over the front axle, less understeer!!! :evilsasmo

5 grand will get you a high eleven nowadays with the edit and a decent pair of tyres.

Considering Chris ran 13.4* with just an edit in an auto xr8 ute. I think under the $1o,ooo mark yes the turbo's are much cheaper to mod but after that it's line ball or in the v8's favour.

What will it cost to run a T6 into the 1o sec bracket, talking engine mods only. Rod's TT ute which is stock except for the TT kit is running 135mph on just 7lb's, i rekon in a manual powered car it'd roll 1o sec passe's off without fuss.

You think APS are the only people capable of turbocharging a car, jeez you'll be a very supprised monkey after Chrismas.

Enlighten us then.

There are plenty of companies capable of Turboing cars.

But a Twin turbo project on the australian market is peanuts and not worth the investment $$$$, think bigger picture and beyond your own bonnet.

Sorry but somewhere along the line (APS for example) will want a return on investment (as any company does) and the Australian market does not do wonders for a big juicy bank balance...

But the BOSS motors, still have too much front end weight.

I recently absolutely flattened a GT, purely cos his Barg **** was too heavy and understeered.

TT or not, they are too heavy, with a stroke thats too long (IMO).

I may be a happy monkey after christmas, when the new Zf comes out, a decent V8 in this day and age, forget it. too heavy.

by the end of this year the laser will be pushing 250kw at the flywheel(200 at the moment). you can have your v8 and your 6 im taking my 4wd laser and its 9l/100ks highway economy to the twisty bits south of wollongong....all for less than the price of a brand new xt....

I didnt expect it to be this close a poll. I would have thought the v8 fans would far outweigh the turbo fans on this forum...

Yeah, close! If we ran this vote before the XR6T arrived - I doubt it would be as close. This car had a HUGE impact when it was launched... :evilking:

Is that all...even my V8 gets 9l/100km on the highway and I know plenty XR6Ts & Typhoons getting that with well over 300KW.
