CAT600.
All in good time little grasshopper....
Consider yourself lucky the car was having issues, and spent a fair bit of time in the pits! That's racing.
You had a good idea what was coming if that wasn't the case...........that 10.7 of yours would of been a distant memory.

Na really mate, I got sick of frying clutches and wreaking the 5/6 speed boxes. It's gets very expensive in the end.
Al Papitto (USA) put the idea in my head to run this gearbox/clutch setup.
I just bit the bullet and bought this box and clutch, so hopefully it can be abussed and I don't have to worry about it! I don't think I got much change out of 10k in the end!
Chris said this gearbox setup was no good and I wasted my money when it first turned up, but me thinks the tall great man might have to soon swallow his own words............

So your saying if I drove it my left leg would be kicking the firewall on the hunt for a CLUTCH PEDAL mmmmmm........... sound like something auto fishy going on there.

A 3spd with the right converter will always be 1.5 - 3 tenths better than the manual box Paul in a 3800lb car with a long wheelbase such as the ford ute has.

Daniels AU would find itself nicely in the 10.5 region with a C10 in it. I think you find your car will be the same.

In an NA application the box will really prove its worth.

I dont mind swallowing my words, as long as i keep away from your sausages, dont need a sick day here, got too much work to do

If you hunt for the peddle, you will find it where every other clutch peddle lives brother.
Chriso, I know an auto will always be quicker, but you know my stance on the manual. I had to have a box that could be thrashed around a track, as well as the strip, so an auto was NOT AN OPTION. Wheelbase means nothing to me when the gearbox must do the best of both worlds, in this case, a manual box is better suited.
In all honestly, if this car wasn't having the particular issues I was having, it wouldn't be far off a 10.5 with this gearbox. Time will tell.
I have the belt issue sorted (I think), need a few more test drives to check.
If all is well, I will head over to heathcote in the next few weeks to really test.

Paul,

the achievement is actually all the more impressive because as i mentioned earlier, a T56 would be a faster shift at the moment due to a lack of RPM. Very hard to get a long wheelbase car down the track with a manual.

let me know when you want to get the car back down here so we can get the thing nice and steady at a good rpm that you can use, and we can pack the little blokes up and head to heathcote for some testing. Ready when you are.

Chris

Just on the phone to THE AGRO, getting the lowdown from the festivities at HPR on the weekend, and I hear that the AGRO8 went 10.75 and ran as fast as 139mph. This makes it the quickest manual transmission Modular in Australia, surpassing my previous record of 10.78.

A great result there my friend, shame I couldnt be there to share the moment with you as you truly deserve this after all the hard work you have put in over the years. It is also good to see the manual record stay in the Kenne Bell camp alongside the "overall" Modular record (Chris's 4 speed auto ute @ 10.05)

Daniel.

Daniel.
Daniel,

Paul has worked extremely hard to get his car working the way he wants, and the 10.75 at bigtime mph certainly shows that the blower/engine recipe is a powerful one. 35plus mph in the back half is serious grunt in a 2100kg car, and only using 17 of the blowers 28psi.

One thing that we did infact overlook was the water system in the Australian Boss, and we seem to be continually beating up on head gaskets around the rear cylinders. The Australian cooling system just aint up to task especially with an overdriven crank.

The result for theo and I is a broken cam bolt on one occasion which meant a quick repair with thankfully little damage, the next one was a gasket failure which we think may have stretched the head studs.

We took a gamble, re used them and lost. saturday at heathcote, she picked up a nasty knock on startup. Looks like a freshen up is needed, over 300 dyno development runs, and a 10.75 daily driven.

The good news?? The lessons learnt will be going into our customers cars. With the constant R and D from people like ourselves, Xtreme Ford tuning, CPV Mackay, Elite automotive Gentech performance and Herrod Motorsport, we will up the ante.

This means that 23plus PSI 600 PLUS rwkw AUSTRALIAN bosses will benefit.

Daniel, we have all taken hits playing with these cars, you have tasted the pain, but you have also tasted the success. Make no mistake, your Terminator is still the tuffest mod manual ford in the country in our opinion.

As for the 10.05, well, i only ever raced it with a stock engine and a 75 shot because of my budget limits, however, we have just started our fresh program on a BA Boss sedan, fully registered with a cage, chute and all alloy 5.4 2.8H Aussie Boss with a transbrake.

Driving Paul's ute was all the motivation I needed.

Thanks for your kind words mate, talk soon

Chris

Loved watching this head down the track - even though wheelspin was an issue, it just seemed to do it sooooooo easily.

Pulled engine apart last night, only kicked a couple of rockers out, heads and short motor are fine, looks like we might take this opportunity to make some small changes and get this girl back out, and a little sooner (and cheaper lol) than we thought.

Hopefully this link uploads.
The new and improved AGRO8.
Have only just finished putting it all back together.
I still need to address the air box, but I really need to get it to BPR for tuning so I can get some kays on her.
The new blower is a 2.8HLC.
Engine now runs an electric water pump.
I also relocated the fuel pressure reg to the inner guard, as it was hard to read when the engine was running.
It's taken awhile to put it all together, as I had to fabricate a new rear entry by hand to suit my own personnel application. I'm hoping all my hard work will pay off with even better flow than before, not so much below 20psi, but more in the 20+ region.
I got the blower in polished, and got the rear entry polished to suit ,for only one reason...........you like that don't you Tex!!!!!!!!
Taking it down to BPR Monday morning if all goes well.
IT'S TIME TO PLAY YET AGAIN.......

The AGRO.

Nice Blower, shame about the poofy polished finish..... see how you just got to copy Texy????? but you just cant pull it off AGRO!

Should make some good numbers, even with the plastic on the filter

Nah looks great mate, Im hanging to see what an Aussie Boss engine can make when the boost numbers pass the 20psi mark..... enough stuffing around with the 15 psi crap, this should be very interesting mate.

I must say I was surprised when I saw this black ute pull up in the pits at the last AFF Nats with a load of fire wood in the back then go out and run a 10sec pass later that night. Great stuff!! The way a ute should be!

Looking good mate! Can't wait and see what the Agro will do with more power in it!

Update.
The ute is back home.
We spent a few hours on the dyno Monday, bedding the engine in.
Load/unload, load/unload... you get the picture.
Had a few little issues with a few new components (from my side), but all is good now.
The new electric water pump looks to be working a treat. It takes so much heat out of the engine if you leave it on while flashing a new tune in or whatever!
Even while clocking up just over 50klms on the dyno to bed the engine in, Intake temps NEVER went into the 100's deg F. I think with the electric water pump and LC head unit, it's going to be a good thing. Early days to know for sure though, will keep an eye on it's performance over the next few hundred klms.
We have limited the engine to 4000rpm for now............'something about Chris not trusting my driving or something' I don't know, I wasn't really paying attention to him when he talks like that.
Oh yeh, the car feels strong, real strong........

Just an update guys.
Car went back to BluePower today for it's BP98 (pump fuel) tuning.
Engine is still fairly new, so the guys won't be leaning on it too hard.
Should be back in my hands for the weekend, if all goes well.
Then I'll try my hardest to put some more klms on it before the Ford Nationals. Running out of time....been working too much!!!!!!
I think if I decide to have a play at heathcote, it will be in full street trim, tyres and all.
Will see how I go..

AGRO.
