Escort Ghia codes were the following:

11638 - 1975-6/77
11739 - 6/77-12/78
11939 - 12/78-

Hope that helps - what's the number you've got?

Cheers,
Paul

the numbers I listed are the Australian model numbers which are different to the cars VIN number. I think the model number should be on the ID plate if it's still on the car.

For the VIN number you've listed so far I've found that:

CK means the following:
platform origin (C = britain)
production location (K = Sydney)

6P = Escort 4-Door Ghia Sedan 2000cc (CK build)

So yes, it's a Ghia
I'll see if I can work out what the rest is

I'm fairly sure the 'W' means 1979 was the year of production and the 'Y' means June was the month.

The 'R' would probably be engine code - 2.0 Litre 4 Cyl 2V Low Compression

The 8991 is probably the production serial number.

Not sure about the other letters though.
