While people are saying no HWP XR8s, what about NSW who won't have F6s anymore and want their Brembo outfit?

Here's hoping XR8!

There XR6T's already have the same brembo set up as the F6's but with old BA2 F6 18" rims.

He was looking at a Pearl Blue Barra 220 for personal use, and was impressed with the economy i was getting, which was not that different to a 4.0 at the time.
Such a shame there's no base V8 FG sedan OR wagon....
When was the last V8 Ford wagon? XE?????
Back in June after the AFF drags nats my old man and I did a road trip from Heathcote up to Canberra and then down to Batemans bay along the coast and then back to home in SA.

I got pulled over by a Yellow SS cop car and after doing the random breath test etc we got to talking about cars and my F6 in particular... I informed Mr plod that I was getting around 780-820kms out of a tank on this trip and he said damn that's good, the SS cop cars are getting around 250-280Kms max per tank was his reply but by the way he took off down the road after chatting to me it wasn't a bit of wonder why

They also tend to leave the HWP cars running at all times, the amount of fuel they'd burn through just idling would contribute to their shocking range.

And I'm not sure if this has been posted (black XR8, quality not great).

The cop cars also carry a fair bit extra weight with all the kit they carry.

Not sure if this has already been discussed but while dropping off my new plates for my GTF at my dealer, I did discuss the new XR8. He informed me that they will be 315kW with standard Brembo's running the GT wheels. couldn't tell me anymore, will be interesting to see.

I've had a dealer say 335, another say FPV engine with unknown spec, and now this. Just shows that we won't know 100% until launch.

No it just goes to show that 99.9% of the time the supply chain is the last to know, and they will tell you anything to get a signature.

If it was only going to be the 315kw in the xr8...then there would probly be a xr8 ute, as ford reckons the ute rear end can't handle the 335 engine...but i think its already been confirmed by ford that there isn't going to be any v8 ute...and if they follow suit like previous xr8 models, they end up with the previous GT spec engines.

they have got no reason not to go 335 because they are using wider rears. But they could lose out going 315

I know what we've seen on the roads and what that means, but I can't help but feel that there could be a base and a premium spec. Still hoping I am wrong.

Ford would not put R-Spec 375 Tyres on a 315 kw XR8, and the lack of an XR8 Ute indicates a 335 Kw for the XR8 (highest certified ute spec 315Kw).

You could be right, but I think R-Spec 375 Tyyes would be deemed as High Performance and inconsistent with the lower spec/tune engine.

Secondly, there would be additional cost for DSC Calibration, when they could use the existing 335 Kw tune and R-Spec 375 Rears with no extra calibration costs. Remember there is NO production cost saving between the 315 & 335 - only software tune.

They are actually 275 tyres.. not 375... Geeeze.

Also there is no calibration for Brembos on the 315 motor.

Has Ford actually confirmed that they did calibrate the DSC for the wider rear tyres, or is that an assumption? (I'm not being ****y about it, I just might have missed it).

They'd only save money (and we don't know how much that is) reusing the R Spec calibration if the XR8 is reusing the same suspension too.

Basically if they do change DSC settings between different models and option packs (and I'm as yet not convinced they do) then any brake, suspension, transmission/driveline and engine differences would need it to be recalibrated. So the two options are:

1. Recalibration isn't expensive and they do it for every change.
2. Recalibration is too expensive and the XR8 is just a GT or a GT Rspec with a different badge, and it doesn't matter what wheels or suspension or motor it comes with because the tune is the same.

I think the XR8 needs to be 335...335 sounds a lot better than 315, I'm sure prospective buyers tossing up between an SS(v) or an XR8 would be more swayed by the 335.
