You will need to know if it was VCT or not.

Non VCT (164KW): http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au...p?key=FORD98HP

VCT (172KW): http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au...p?key=FORD98HX

My 99 AU Manual XR weighed in at 1540kg's (no driver full tank fuel).

Some times I found :

1999 Ford Falcon XR6 5-speed
0-100 : 8.3
Qtr Mile : 15.9
KW(not rwkw) : 164

They are generally faster than those times, but it really comes down to how much of a good peddeler you are with a manual..
Should be able to get down to about 7.2 sec 0-100(wheelspin, im down to about 6.5now) and around 15.2 sec down the 1/4
Well thats what I got in my bog stock AU 5speed on my first night out at the track.

But i guess it all depepnds on the weight of the car (spare wheel, how much fuel is in the tank) and also if the driver can drive a manual and get a good launch.

Don't worry too much. The VCT got the extra grunt so the power to weight ratio of the car was similar to the intech veriosn. The VCT got IRS, which adds 70kg odd to the car weight, meaning it had to have more power to match times - in stock form, there's not much in it.

An exhaust upgrade and a flash tune will see the intech nearly up to stock XR8 times (AU1).

Yeah plus there is way less modding prospects on the VCT, if that's your thing

There would be 1/10th of stuff all between an AU1 manual XR6 and AU1 manual XR8...
Auto would be in the XR8's favour.. just.
I agree with Twisted EL.. If you want to mod it alot go for the HP.. easier and cheaper and there is alot of aftermarket support.. VCT is starting to look up, but there isnt much available for them yet..
Just ask Casper.. does the word custom mean anything to you? everything needs be built or made to suit the vct theres nothing 'off the shelf' so to speak.

Not actually true. Everything is avaliable off the shelf except the head and cams.. and they are avaliable from G&D now.
I went custom because with my original off the shelf exhaust etc I just wasnt happy with the potential of them. Results were good but they were not capable of dealing with future plans I have. So I went custom to ensure "upgradability".

That said though, a cam is the most common and easiest power mod and, apart from the G&D one and a JMM regrind, theres nothing really out there.
