Just food for thought for all you "experts" of old and I know better.
I grew up the era myself, none of my kids give a toss of the HO and in part to some the "GT" fable whilst at it, and believe me I have have talked and talked about the late '60's '70's being the golden eras but mean jack shi T to them.
Don't under estimate the future plastics (I6T etc) - don't care what they maybe worth but things like the HO may last forever (to a small minority) but most in the future won't give a damn.
Times do change - factory is closing for eg.
I'd better relay that information to my 14 to 17 year old automotive students who love the old muscle cars, and to the young grade 12 miss who bought a restored XK ute for her first car...

The thing i hate is the elitist attitude some car enthusiasts have, steel vs plastic vs euro ( seen it all on here ) who cares they all have advantages. We have no idea if the sprints will be worth anything, we have no idea if the old expensive muscle cars will dump in value as time goes on. Just drive the stinkin things, make some memories, all my favorite memories are from having my cars out on the back roads somewere not sitting in my garage. Each to there own though

At the end of the day anything, and not just cars, will become "collectable" with time.

There are people who spend their weekends buying old furniture and crockery because they are "collectable".

EACH TO THEIR OWN!

Each Falcon will transcend into collectability, some more than others, as the years pass and especially now that production is all but over.

Stories of XY GT's being thrashed and unloved and unwanted in the 80's seem distant memories today as they are worth mega dollars.

Through the 90's it was the final X series that were seen as junk, now clean examples are sought after by those who grew up with them. That same analogy applies to each successive generation (E series, A series, B series and F series). For example I respect and appreciate X series GT's for all that they are but I grew up when the A and B series were the Ford pinnacle and as a result have bought F series as funds came available. Its these cars that I reminisce and remember. Its a generational thing.

I suppose what it all comes down to is if you "value" and enjoy your chosen model of Falcon, it shouldn't be shot down in flames because of its bumpers of badges.

I think the XY GT 351 HO will continue to rise in value why?

A Ford Australia built muscle car with racing heritage, these are always going to collectable and increase in value, they still look great even in today's plastic fantastic world.

Once the electric cars take hold which they will, the older mechanical "global" legendary cars will soar in price.

Ask yourself this... If you won 5 million in lotto today would you buy one? If of course you could get hold of one....

I would, and not because they may increase in value, but because they are a legendary part of Ford's Australia's most successful Australian Racing history.

I’m happy with my cars but I still wouldn’t mind one of those Sprints in my garage.

And if they’d made a Sprint Ute, there would be.

I just don’t agree with the argument that the fastest or the last or the first or whatever makes an ultimate or for that matter valuable collectable.

I don’t know what will turn people on in 40 years but if there are too many good examples locked away I feel that in some way takes some of the gloss off them for the serious money people.

Finding something old and massaging it back to life, now that's a turn on for the average collector.

Its not about 40 years time.. its a few days time the factory will shut.

Its about getting your hands on a falcon factory forced induction car. You simply will not be able to buy one.

Sure they will bob up on carsales but high km end of lease / ex police worn ones. The good ones will be kept.

Dont you want a new or near new forced induction falcon? They kill any falcon before them. In a few days time, you just wont be able to get one. Not for love or money.

Maybe, but I wouldn't trade my slow rusty old ZD for one. It will still be chugging along long after the plastic electronics have gone to heaven. And young kids will still point in jaw dropping appreciation at the old beast in a way that they don't for invisible modern machines...

We will most likely see our 60s and 70s Bathurst winning Series Production cars become much more recognised and collectable on the world stage in the future along with other European and American homologation race specials...........those that like to compare the future value of the tupperware cars with vintage race cars need to put down the bong for a moment and take a breath.

Watch this video, you have 7 days to buy one before factory shuts.

Watch this video, if you don't have a i6t or supercharged 8 it's now or never. Forget the old models, this is where it will be at...forever.

Did you know that those supercharged v8 cars make near 400rwkw tune only?. Drive like a stock standard car, just as reliable and in some ways more fuel efficient? Most of the cars in that posted link were around that mark, basically stock. I know its hard to beleive but yes they respond so well to just a tickle. Many of them mechanically exactly as it come from the factory.

Very different to the 800rwkw f6 that is basically a drag car with most stock mechanical bits compromised. Collectors would certainly look past it.

I know all to well about what just a tickle can achieve putting it this way lol.....
I have experience with edit tunes and more but its not stock comparing apples with pears etcetc....even a tune means its not stock anymore to those minded wishing for a original thats all I'm saying.
You see those looking for a genuine specimen will farfar prefer being that - even just a edit tuned one will put those type of purchasers off. Thats how it goes thats how some are.
aaronm post and link - its got nothing to do with "collector" as has been discussed in the thread and a questionable one at that.

G'day , I saw this video a month or so ago , yep some beaut examples for certain.. I WISH I could afford an FGX before October 7th.Much more mundane expenses such as eating , electricity , insurances, rates, house repairs and paying off my FG XR6 get in the way ..Maybe Tattslotto will give me one last chance tomorrow night..On the phone first thing Monday morning to buy one if that miracle was to happen...No joke either..In fact I'd buy two if I could find them somewhere in OZ..one of each XR6 and XR8 ..Ecstasy that would be.
If not my FG XR6 and AU ll will do me for a while ..Love them both.. Cheers Rod

Ok only 2 days to go.. secure your 6 cylinder turbo falcon or supercharged V8 falcon now or never

Buy it new for the last time ever.

Yes they will come onto the market used but why buy used (who knows what you will get) when you can get them new.

Cars become rare or valuable when there is few or next to none left regardless of brand, make or model. Bloke I work with just paid 115k for Cortina, ugliest car I have ever seen but not many left like it so probably a good investment but most people don't buy these cars to make money later, it's about the passion.

This conversation died off nearly 8 years ago. I think it's a fair call that if you still have an FGX you see value in keeping them, others will have moved on to other makes/models.
