Hey Aust.
Welcome back and in a nice ute by the looks of it, you won't be dissappointed in the De Fillipo gear mate as that's what I had in the old ute, sounds awesome and gives some good performance to. Add a new CAI and a tune and you'll be wrapt.
Looking forwrd to the updates/upgrades mate.

Thanks Mick, I am familiar with Darren's stuff as the old black wheelbarrow had some of it too. I am really, really looking forward to getting it on there.

Very difficult to find a good CAI for the AU's, who's still making them?

Had to get it through rego, and it's still lower than XR height anyway. There's low, and then there's really low - i didn't mind either, but I'd rather be legal.

Either Whoosha or G&D for the CAI Austin. If you have the coin go the G&D one.

Is this lowered yet?

Used to be $650 fitted, not sure about nowadays but I'd think it still around that price.

Haven't they dropped in price quite significantly. I'd definitely be going the G&D one now then.

Doesn't anybody make equal length (or tuned) headers any more, or is the price too exorbitant. ?

God what a bloody awful night on the spanners which only ended at 5am this morning.

A few positives - sportsbars off, lowered, new bushes in the rear and the DF catback system installed.

A few negatives - rear leafs were a bit of a pain (they normally are but this time moreso for some reason), the DF headers look like a nightmare to fit AND they didn't supply the new bolts for them - bit unhappy about this and I'm a little disappointed with the sound of the new catback system. Couldn't get the steering wheel on either due to not having the right bit to undo the airbag.

Going to leave the headers and cats for now and have an exhaust shop do them as my confidence is nowhere near high enough to attempt it - less stress if someone else does them too. The sound will no doubt improve with them going on, but for now it's a little on the quiet side so we'll see how it goes.

I've got some pics of it after a wash (after which it started raining) so will put them up shortly.

Jase - yes this one will get a cam eventually but there are a few other things in front of that - extractors on, new wheels, G&D airbox and then it's a lot of interior work - carpet, new plastics and fitting the MOMO wheel.

Ah mate, tis not a hard job! well not if you have done it many times before!

Looking forward to pics of it lowered, the black ute they came out of sat nice so no reason yours shouldnt be any different.

I didnt ask if you got the hotdog or the resonator tailpipe for the exhaust, but sounds like you got the resonator, which would be the reason why its quiet, so its an easy fix, get difilippo to send you the hotdog tailpipe and it will sound tough!

Shouldve let me know if you were having problems, maybe you shouldve brought the ute down here, it would have been all done in a day!

There's one like this on the VCM suite web site, not sure who makes it, but was $375 inc plus postage of around $20. Well put together and sounds awesome.
