Yeh. It was good to listen to the engineers talk about the GTF on our drive day weeks ago. The tinkering and software challenges to get everything just right is quite a story.

Whilst West3960's comment is idiotic, they are closer than miles. The 335 throttle only opens to 60% from factory where as the F's throttle now opens to 80%. Theres about 15rwkw in them. A friends GTF ran up 12rwkw more than my 335 on the same dyno except he is running a K&N and a manual. Everything stock including wheels, tyres and filters dont expect much in them until the F can get up to high speeds and that extra can start to take over, they do make more torque. Under that we found who ever gets off the line first is going to win. When moving I couldn't reel him in, but by the same token he couldn't pull away either and visa versa. Tyres and traction control still plays a bigger part to these cars that KWs on the street and the "playing" we have done. I would like to get both on the track as I think thats likely were we will see a difference.

That and they said there is around 45KW difference between the two motors at the right temps...

yep

dudes need to chill a bit out - any 12 - 13 sec car on the street there isnt much in it

honest 13 sec car will give a 10 sec a car a run

what that 10 sec car was up to before it caught up with you is up to your imagination

That 45kW difference doesn't seem to have translated to a superior straightline acceleration difference.

Like Rancid said, it's probably on the track where the GT-F would come into its own over the R-Spec with its different mapping.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any comparative laps at say Wakefield Park.

Anyway, this probably belongs in another thread.

As Pottery sum d it up its evolution.First of the x series cars to the last GT they are miles apart.Xb gt had wider tract 4 wheel disc brakes smoother ride and a much better car to drive than the box cars.Just like the Ba to fg there miles apart.Even this new xr8 will be better again.Live with it its just how things are.A GTF to a R spec is a better car, the power delivery and torque curves tells all.

Not quite that... more the usual "GTF isnt so special", etc kind of comments... basically what I predicted would happen earlier in the piece...

PB is not talking on a prepped drag strip.

On the street the 13 sec car will likely be much torquier, easier to drive fast. The 10 sec car will likely be cammy, if in the wrong gear or out of the power band it will be smashed, hard to get that power to the ground on the street.

Torque wins on the street every time.

GTF is the biggest and the baddest and subjectively the best modern performance car FoA have made. The engineers who made these things agree as well.
Just live with it and move on........

Doesn't mean the predecessors are not good cars.....just means that GTF is the pinnacle.

That might be being conservative Kypez; Sinclair Ford have one for sale at the moment. It's a Black with Silver Stripes manual with a tag of $120K.

That's quite a bit over retail but still probably reasonable.

What I observed with R-Spec values earlier in the year was that on average they seemed to be holding their retail value. I was considering selling mine as I'd had the whisper about the "last FPV".

Once the GT-F was announced the values went south! LOL!

The trade-in wouldn't have been pretty then.

The main difference with the GT-F is that it is the last of the line, there is no newer model or limited edition that will come along to supersede it and that will definitely be a factor in them holding their value.

Just looking on Carsales, the GT R Spec seems to go from $55k to $145k! Just curious, are these cars actually selling at the higher end of the scale? And given most ads are around the retail price for the car, it would be a useful guide to the GTF... but as others have said, the GTF is a little more special... just a little...

Put.it this way if there was a GTF for sale and a GT 335 or r spec which one would you guys buy regarding they were similiar pricing and colour of choice. The answer is no brainer, and this is why they will be the most desireable falcon gt ever produced.

Accurate in a theoretical sense, but boy do the GTF's have a long way to go before this'll ever be a problem!

Currently on carsales you could very nearly have three GT's in your yard for the price of one GTF, lol (or indeed I could put a Nissan GTR or a Ferrari 360 in the driveway instead). I get that the GTF's are desirable, special and so forth, but not that special to my tastes

I don't say that to diminish those who love their GTF or aspire to own one, rather to just make the (obvious) point that ~$100k puts them in a bracket where you have an awful lot of choice about what you fetch your groceries in!

Man its amusing watching some of you jokers talk it up.........How i see it.

GTF = XB GT........Both being the last and most refined of their repective makes and eras.

XR8 = XC GXL......Both not GTs of course, but the last of that same basic body shape and also the most refined.

I would work backward from those 2 examples to sort the rest out

Cheers Mick
