My dad had a Prado, bucket of sheet. They drive likes boats and the engine is rubbish. Laggy, rattly piece of junk. He traded it on a Ranger and it drives so much better even with the leaf spring rear. 3.2 kills the 3.0 in the Prado.

Agreed. Bloody asthmatic on the highway as well compared to the 3.2.

Buy a low km 2007 LC100 Sahara TD instead, retain more value?

In case of 100 series retained value is great for the guy who bought it new - for second owner not so good.

$55, 000 with 150-200, 000ks no thanks, even if it was $100, 000 when new.

D4D engines are notorious for EGR valves blocking up with carbon. The difference in performance between a choked up EGR and a clean one can be huge. One just doesn't notice the gradual decline in performance over time, but once it's cleaned out, it's very noticeable. As for them being rattly, it'd almost certainly be the injectors. It's fair to say I'm not a fan of the D4D engine, valve adjustment is a nightmare with the bucket shim setup, too. At least timing belts are a piece of p!ss though. *rolleyes*

Concur with the EGR valve blocking.... in the end felt like turbo lag.... with the boost never coming on....!! Just about spun the old pajero around once it was fixed! Took 4.5 yrs 105k to block though!

Bit early in the weekend to start drinking isn't it?

Shiny crap around the screen ruins it a little though.

Pretty sure I've just found my next car.
SWMBO is onto me about getting 7 seats again, and seeing as though my Jeep doesn't come with them I may well be back in the fold next year.

Will possibly miss a couple of things that the Jeep has though, but they may not be deal breakers.

The fact that the Everest will be available with blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning and I would also imagine in this day it will also come with heated mirrors and possibly auto folding as well as in one image I've seen it has lamps integrated into the underside of the housing.
Very real chance it will cost very similar money to replace.

The picture I posted up was from a 2008 Hilux with 135k on the clock. This was the first time that the EGR had been cleaned out. I couldn't believe how much carbon buildup was inside! The difference in performance before and after was just phenomenal!

It was a sheet bag from day dot. The rattle is just the way they are, they are a noisy, unrefined lump. I have zero love for them. The Ranger is much better in terms of NVH and much less diesel clatter. It's not perfect, give me a petrol engine anyday, but it's a huge step over the D4D.

People are complaining about how the Everest looks. But I would like to point most in this thread are comparing it to this 'thing'

Everest looks pretty good to me. Especially that front end, quite tough looking

The latest Prado was definitely a down grade in terms of looks, especially those pox looking DRL's.

Yep, fair enough. I agree, they're junk engines. I don't enjoy working on them and they are neither refined nor do they perform well. I was in no way defending them, just offering an alternative perspective. Given that your experience with them extends back to day dot though, my point obviously wasn't applicable. Give me an Isuzu 4JJ1 any day over a D4D, EGR problems also notwithstanding for the Isuzu mill.

In exactly the same boat.
I love the look of these, it would be nice to buy a new Ford and the missus wants 7 seats.I'm sure the 3.2 and 6 speed will be adequate, but i reckon I'll miss the ttv6 and 8 speed out of the GC.

I would have preferred the 2015 Ford Explorer from an aesthetics point of view.
The Edge is a downsized suv next to the Territory.

Seems the Territory market maybe in limbo. No point paying for 4wd when it's not used and won't ride as well.

The 3.2 has had a lot of work done to it for the Everest and the update Ranger from what I've read. I wouldn't be surprised if on release the power/torque from the 3.2 doesn't give all that much away to the GC 3.0.

Colorado and MUX are cheap cars for a reason, if you want a cheap car buy them, if you want a quality car look at the Everest. People aren't interested in crap cars at this end of the price spectrum.

I recon it will sit between these two and the Prado. For $20k less then a Kakadu, you'll have change to put in the aftermarket long range tanks, bars, under protection, old man emus and light force etc if that makes your bell ring. Otherwise you'll have a nice 7 seater that'll easily get you out of the muddy grass car parks at big events in winter and tow any 3 tonne trailered boat up a slippery boat ramp in high summer at low tide straight out of the box with the 3.2D tuned up by the factory.😊

I hope so.
It would want/need over 500nm to stand above it's competitors

That's where my wife keeps hers. Her $15k Mirage has proximity key with push button door and starter.

The bloody thing would want to have proximity key entry with all the rest of the crap it will have, together with the probable asking price for the high series.

The Front just looks a bit soft to me, id like to see what a bulbar would do for it.
it could stop a few people thinking its a territory Replacement

I wonder if you could fit the current Ranger front end?
there's a few sites showing the 2015 Ranger having the same front as the Everest
