Default Mondeo 16" Steel Stock Wheel

Hi guys im after some information about a mondeo wheel.

Ive heard there is a 16" stock steel wheel that came out on mondeos? what size and offset are they? pcd 5x108?

I might be interested in a set without tyres!

that's ok, it was tongue in cheek anyway. sorry to hijack your thread.

not 100% but i would think the offset of the steel wheels would be close to the alloys +55 5x108 might not be that common to pick up... best bet might be to find someone who is doing after market and get theirs??

The offset is 50 and the width is 6.5" I had a set of steel wheels and tyres in my garage, but they're back on the car now as I prefer them to the 17" alloys that I upgraded to!

You might find that a set of 16" focus wheels will be OK as the offset will be about the same. Not sure what the rim width is though.

mate not sure if you'd be interested but thought it can't hurt to mention it... there is a guy over at www.fordxr5turbo.com looking to sell a set of 16" focus wheels. i'm fairly sure the offsets are ok for mondeo. here is a link to the thread:

I have a set sitting in my garage. But I live in Auckland so freight could be an issue!

They are 6.5" with a +50 offset. There are 16" alloy wheels available to fit the Mondeo - do you have a reason for wanting steelies?

thanks for the reply NZ XR6. I think freight would be too high for these wheels to get them to australia. thanks for the offer but im looking for the steel wheels because they are going on a different car (not mondeo) with the same stud pattern and i need to get the offset changed.

thanks

Hi Nanarana

No problem with the idea of fitment to a different car, but changing the offset?

I can only see one method of changing a wheel's offset and that is by fitting a spacer. And in all (?) states there are some stringent requirements about this. If not followed they invalidate the legality of the car for road use and will void any insurance too.

Just interested in what you are attempting. I wouldn't like for you to get into trouble inadvertently.

Cheers

it all legal alan d. i will not be using spacer because they are dangerous and void insurance. changing the offset is achieved by changing the outside hoops on the wheel. its done by a wheel manufacter/engineer.

cheers

Ah Ha,

So you plan to re-roll the wheel outer flange and tyre bead seat?

I did not consider "that" kind of alteration. It now becomes clear why you are in need of steel rims.

Do you know how much track width change you are allowed as a percentage figure? I'll bet there are rules about that too .

Good luck with the search.

Cheers

Have you tried Ford dealers? They might have the wheels from upgrading standard models to alloys.

nz xr6 ive tried ford dealerships but i dont think they keep the wheels. they dont seem very helpful!

mondo broady im looking at changing the offset to around +35. i still need to work out what offset is correct. i think volvo have something around this offset in the correct pcd (5x108) but im having less success in finding these. maybe someone knows of a set of volvo 16" steel rims i could buy?
