Worked it out - I have seen X-series cars with GS badges, suspect they came off Holden Apollo GS cars... small GS badge in either red or silver/chrome. Parked behind one the other day.

They would be the badges that denote the engine capacity, 200 6cyl was badgeless there, 250 & then 250 with 170HP below was for the base & then 2V 250, V8 was for the 302 & then 351 was for...... a BLOODY GOOD THING : !!

XA GS didn't have any external decals/badges to say it was a GS whereas XB's had a GS decal the same height as the thickness of the side stripes at the rear end of the side stripes on the rear quarter panels & it didn't matter if it was a sedan, wagon, coupe, ute or van, the XB GS stripes/logo's were all the same style with their colour being the only variation.

Not sure of you can have both the protecttor moulds and gs swirl stripe from factory

Has anyone seen both the side moulds and side stripes on a gs before. I would lose the side moulds as it detracts from the car (my opinion only!!)

Great colour combo once again anyway mate, any updates on the car?
mine has the protector moulds but no gs stripe..
here is a pic of my baby...

Here is a picture of an XA GS - the GS stripe is the swoopy one that follows the top of the guard and along the top of the door panel but no GS letters.

I picked up the picture from www.aus-ford-uk.co.uk, A very very good reference site.
