Default Escort MKII - RH indicator lights up when brake pedal is pressed??!?

Hi all,

I have a annoying little problem. When I press the brake pedal on my esky, the right hand side indicators light up also. The harder I press, the more they light up.

If i turn the right indicator on while the brake pedal is pressed, it wont start flashing until the brake is released.

Has anybody come across this before. Would save me following all the wiring to find the problem.

Thanks

Hmmm.... maybe your car is telling you that you turn right too fast? or maybe your bulbs are about to brake.... err sorry about that. lol

Hows your brake pads? Wouldnt be something to do with metal-on-metal contact there would it?

sounds like you have a problem with the wire for the brake light, seems to be crossed with the indicator... unfortunately the only real way of traking these things down is to start at one end and work your way thru.

I would start by making sure there are no breaks in the wire coating, start from the tail light unit and work your way foward.

Is it a recent problem? or something that has just appeared? If it has always been like hat I would suggest that it has been wired up incorrectly. If it has started by itself it's more likely to be a short somewhere from worn insulation.

Good luck

Ok well i started at the lights and thats where the problem was. Not exactly sure what the problem was cos when i took it apart and tested it with a circuit tester, it worked fine. Put it back together and still works fine.

Hehehe I'm not complaining. Now to move on to the next problem.

You will find a lot of these type of problems are caused by a bad earth, when you pulled the light apart & put it back together it probobly started making cotact again, I don't know why but ive had a lot to do with truck clearance lights & a bad earth can make them do all sorts of funny things :

Think u might be right reg. The bolt to which the earth wire was attached was lose so tightening it was most likely the solution.
