2.
Ford Fairmont, XD 1979, Hermitage Red, 351C with some mild work, 9" with 3.5 gears, auto. Car was put together by Chris of Bluepower, in 1997 in his dads garage before he went into the tuning business. those were the days............

6.
VW Bora V6 4motion Sport. if it were'nt for all of the warrnaty stuff i had to get done I would rate that car on a good day, but there weren't many good days. I actually can't believe I bought this car considering I was shopping BA2 XR8s and XR6Ts at the time. stupid.

7.
Porsche Boxster 986 ('99). Wifes replacement car. I drove this a fair bit. loved it. I'd like to have another one day, but an 's' version.

8.
FPV GT, BF, current daily driver. Love it. Makes me forget about the stupid Bora i had before it.

9.
BMW 325i e92. Wifes latest, traded the Porsche in for a baby. I liked the e46 better actually. current 2nd car

Austin J pedal car in the fifties. Factory built 2 seater. Recently sold at Shannon’s Auction for about $5000. My bro and I were going to pay up to $3000. The bloke who bought the Charger bought it. If anyone knows him I still have family photos of that Austin in the 1950’s. With me in it.

LATE SIXTIES:

Wolseley 1500 4M $200 first real car. Came with hot 1622cc and twin SU’s, fatties etc. Axle breaking king. Lost my virginity in it.

1970 ONWARDS:

LC Torana GTR 4M Sentimental all time favourite. Took it to Oran Park, Warwick Farm and Catalina. Paid cash for it at 17 years 5 months. Looking back that was an achievement. I had worked since I was 8 or 9 years old. Milk run, paper runs, Chemist delivery boy, letter box dropper. Firewood deliverer with my pushie (with trailer). You name it. I chased work. (Sold to buy my first block of land)

EK Station Wagon. Huge stereo (for 1971) blasted Led Zeppelin all day. ABBA and Elvis were banned. What was I thinking about Elvis? A let down after the Torana but I wanted to be a capitalist one day and cashing up to go back to a POS every now and then has been a pattern along the way to getting there. Capitalist that is.

HR Panel Van. Fitted comfy Austin 1800 bucket seats. I bet the floor rusted where we welded and never painted!

HQ Sandman Panel Van BRAND NEW – the HR was fun so I figured a Sandman would be more fun. It was but then I married her. Learnt the lesson never to allow a salesman to sign me up on the spot again.

Valiant VE. Retired as a pig hunter in western NSW

Valiant VIP V8 Scariest power steering ever on a car

Valiant V8 VG770. Same steering. Nearly killed me so I sold it.

1981:

VC Commodore Wagon 4.2V8 5M. NEW PURCHASE. 4.2 V8 Manual. The closest car I have ever owned to an environmental car (it was green in colour) I had a head on Blacktown Road with a Dark Blue SLR5000. Both write offs. Neither saw the other coming. Never owned a camouflaged color car again except the next car

HG Holden Wagon 253 Auto Same rotten green colour that nearly got me killed in the last car. When I realized why the accident happened I sold that green car and bought a BRIGHT Orange HZ

HZ Holden Premier Wagon 3A Orange Loaded. Recaros, 308, Trick Turbo 400 etc etc

Dodge ute 245 3M Like a Valiant but no chrome and gal tray bits from memory

After driving a mates Alfa Sud along the Putty I had a love affair with various Italians starting with

Fiat 125 Special. 5M Good car. Russians still build them I suspect.

Lancia Beta Coupe. 5M The paint was holding the metal together. But not completely and bits of panels often fell off. Should have kept the Fiat.

Alfa Romeo Sprint 5M Pretty little thing until Idrove a mates 2L Celica and got a better appreciation for Jap cars so I bought a

Honda Accord Hatch 5M New 1985

Ford Meteor. 5M Laser with a boot. I traded it in on Honda and sold it in 3 weeks.

Valiant Regal SW 245. 3A My delivery truck. It was loyal to me but I treated it like a POS delivery van.

VW Caravelle GL 1.9l water cooled. Huge sunroof. 5 speed. Gutless until it was doing 100kph then it wanted to do 160kph. Typical underpowered kraut. Good thing with a load though. Did 345,000 kilometres in 4 years delivering VHS movies on east coast

Porsche 911T. Original even to the Fuchs wheels. Bought as 1 owner in San Diego from an undercover FBI agent. He was terrified at the thought of it going on a ship to Australia until I pointed out that’s how it got to US from Germany. Maybe that’s why there’s lots of crooks in the US. Dumb cops who can afford to buy a new Porsche. WTF? I drove it thru Mexico with wife 1 and my 2 little girls on board. How dumb was that? A Porsche with California plates in 3rd world country with crime every where. Talk about make a target of yourself. I must have been really dumb.

Audi 100CD 5M. The car that the VN copied. When the GM of Gen Motors Germany saw the 100CD launched at Frankfurt in 1983 he reportedly said. “Well now you know what our cars will look like soon”. The Opel did and so did the VN Dunnydore. But the 100CD was far superior to any VN. Most Commodores actually until recently.

Audi 100CD 3A Avant (station wagon).

NINETIES:

300ZX 4A. Bought at Auction $42,500 when it was 14 months old. Originally cost was $84,560. Paperwork came with it. Now there’s depreciation for you! 50% or 40 grand in 14 months. Bought for wife 1 but I liked it so much I sold the Porsche and bought a 5M version for me.

300ZX 5M Eastern Creek and Oran Park loved it. Still a gorgeous looking grand tourer style I reckon.

Pajero GLS 4A Tri Pack New Kept wife 1 happy – for a while.

Karmann Ghia factory Convertible 4M. My” From Wreck to Riches” story. Bought from a San Bernadino car wrecking yard. He thought I was nuts but it was an easy repair and RHD conversion. Restored well. Featured in Fast Fours. How a 40hp dak dak was considered a fast 4 I do not know. The photos by Mark Bean I suppose. Sold for half price when I was desperate for $$$ in 2001. Not my best business deal. Lost $20 grand on it in 10 years. But had lots of fun. It was a dead set magnet par excellence. Bar none. Supremo.

Jeep Wrangler. 3A 727 Stretched it and used it for commercial 4x4 tours

2001 ONWARDS:

Nissan Navara V6 5M 1993 Twin Cab. Bought from Nissan dealer unregistered for $2200 because rear tub was rusted out from carrying chemicals and it looked rough. Fitted 2004 Navara STR tub (Cost me a six pack of XXXX). Entered it in Townsville supersprints and got re-hooked on the track

Nissan Patrol 4.8 5 Sp Auto Used as commercial tour vehicle. Awesome/unstoppable off road - even with max load on board. The tourists could not believe where it went.

Nissan “Homy” 10 seater luxury van. 4x4 Tour DIESEL mini bus. Now theres’ a genius marketing name for you. Homy. Must have been named by the same guy who came up with “Cedric”. Somewhere along the line he worked at Mitsubishi and did the Jap R in Stallion/Starion too I reckon. Homy is rare but they are like a Delica - except more powerful and better off road.

Toyota Corolla 5M $1000 special when I was broke. Don’t ever go into tourism if you want money sonny. Now young nubile Swedish backpackers? That’s another thing altogether

Falcon BA11 XR6T 6M ute. Rapid yellow. My first Ford purchase. Loved it. My first ever modification experience. Still got all the bits. Want them? PM me.

BMW 330Ci Convertible. 5M. Bought it from a mate (of 35 years) who optioned it high spec from new. My keeper and a (future) classic car I reckon. Gorgeous car. Red with caramel leather.

Mazda RX-7 FD. 5M Jap import now converted to circuit race car. Man its fast. A GENUINE weapon. For sale if we get the boat.

Patrol 4.8. 5A My second 4.8. UNBELIEVABLE tow car. Cheap to run on LPG. 150kph with over 5 tonne GVM. Highly under rated 4x4. Leaves V8 Landcruisers in its wake, And exploders etc etc. And Jeeps. Well not the SRT but the normal ones. I will never forget the look on an Audi drivers face when I passed him up the Brooklyn hill. Would love to have seen his face when the 22 foot caravan passed him as well. 50K over officer.

Falcon FG XR6T ute 6A. Nitro. My FAVOURITE car ever. Bar none. Even my wife (2) has fallen in love with it and that’s saying something. Might start a thread on her love of it. Fascinating story.

36 CARS IN 39 YEARS but maybe I have forgotten some.

Numerous trail bikes. Maybe a new boat later today if he will give me the deal I want. Caravelle 192 or 196 bowrider.

Dad taught me to buy right and sell right even if it takes time - and don’t forget that the real cost of ownership includes depreciation.

Most cars I broke even on money wise. A couple I sold at a profit. It can be done.
