The Best Car Awards, run by the various state motoring organisations (NRMA, RACV, RAA etc) have released the list of finalists for 2010...
Best Light Car under $20,000No mention of the VEII, but not sure on the rules for release date... http://www.raa.com.au/page.aspx?TerID=162

There are models listed which I haven't ever heard of. What the heck is a Volkswagen Passatt CC 125 TDI or Volkswagen Polo 66 TDI Comfortline? Of more concern is that someone may actually know!
I would struggle to remember when (if ever) I've seen some of these cars. If these cars were so truly good then they'd be everywhere! The list seems irrelevant to what most people are trying to make do, and driving with, on a day-to-day basis. <end of rant> |

Polo is a turbo diesel (66kw 1.6l). Google is a good start. My parents have a Polo 77 comfortline and it is a fantastic little car...oozes quality. It will be a tough one between the Fiesta and the Polo, both are by far the best small/micro cars under 25k.

So many cars on the list simply do not represent everyday Australian reality. These cars seem to have caught the eye of the daydreaming latté sipping journalist catering for tofu loving pretenders that inhabit most cities. |

Keep saying it the Ford Fiesta wins awards all over the World the Europeans love it.
Ford Australia need to find a way to sell more, 1000 units a month is small fish in this ever growing segment.. My wife has one for nearly 3 years not one problem or warranty claim, she does want a new one soon..

A bit perplexed as to how Kia and Hyundai can get nominations in best SUV over $40k, but no mention of the Freelander 2, which actually will go places other than the road.

ha, this happens all the time. Holden/Toyota never has the best product in its class, often the last or 2nd last in their various classes yet outsells everyone.
People just buy them purely from perception. |

Our little Fiesta is a cracking car. Having owned a VW Passat, I think the German Ford cars are every bit as good as the other German stuff.
