Default Traction Control & ABS Warning light

Hi everybody

I've got a question referring to the title of this thread.

2 Days ago I got caught up in some gravel on someones driveway and couldn't reverse out due to all the stones. All the car did was spin the wheels. but managed to get out by going into another driveway without stones (grass driveway, had to drive into someones backyard and turn around, barely had grip on the grass, wheels spinning once again haha.)

Anyways from this incident occasionally (mostly it doesn't happen) the traction control and abs warning light goes through phases when it turns on and off. Mostly 10 minute phases for when it decides to turn on.

I personally have no idea, but could it be somehow be glitch in the computer system?

The car is a AUII Fairmont.

I hope this all makes sense.

Thanks

My money is on a failing ABS electronics unit.

Have a read of these two excellent threads:

My car had a faulty ABS module so i replaced it, but it could also be a damaged abs sensor (perhaps damaged by the gravel). I would get it diagnosed first by a brake expert or by a Ford dealer with the correct diagnostic equipment.

If it does turn out to be the ABS module then before you go wasting money looking for a replacement (at a scary price) contact THIS BLOKE, his name is Anthony Pazin and he will repair your ABS module to a better than new state for a whole lot cheaper than you will get a replacement from anywhere else. The AU ABS with TC module has a known weakness and is prone to failure and Anthony will sort it out so it won't fail again. He's a top bloke, have a look at this thread to see what he did for me

I guess with my problem I'll wait it out until I get my service as it doesn't seem to be a serious problem and then see what the problem is.

Bushbasher - I had a read, sounds like a very suitable place.
I'll look into this place if I end up needing to get the abs module repaired.
Thanks
