Default 30% increase in Ford models here. What are they?

Ford have confirmed a 30% increase in models available here.
Thats three(?) new vehicles.
So what do we think they are?

Ecosport (confirmed)
Ranger Wagon/Everest
Mustang
Transit Custom
F-series

What else is a possibility?

Care factor zero as far as I'm concerned. They may as well be Hyundais or Kias.

Not Taurus, the RHD version is no longer in development

I would say Mustang, next gen Ford Edge, Fusion, Everest/Endeavour and maybe the Transit Connect/Custom.

The Ford media release announcing this was horrendously bad. They were effectively saying the loss of Australian made Fords, the ending of the Falcon legacy, the crush to the manufacturing industry and the loss of 1200 jobs was an exciting time for Ford. The result is I have no care whatsoever about what these 30% new models are.

On 3AW today the Ford President very carefully stated that the Falcon badge will be retired after production in Broadmeadows stops. So no import will ever carry the Falcon badge. Just before he said this he spoke of the Falcon and Territory production both ending in Oct 2016 but he never said the Territory badge would be retired. Had me wondering why he was specific on Falcon and very measured in what he said.

Because they may reuse the Territory badge on another (imported) car.

I think from a product stand point, Everest was coming anyway, Mustang was too eventually so maybe now they'll bring Edge. Depending on what they mean by new models and where that stood a few months ago, there might be more models like a single large bodystyle, maybe next gen Explorer.

There is going to be alot of short term resistance to any Ford product by the general market id say.

I was going to say something in the major thread but knew the zombies would not like Sinead, or whoever copied and pasted that paragraph from FB, to be questioned.

Is Ford playing with claimed percentages of new vehicles coming
when in fact those product holes should have been filled years ago?

What will Ford release to replace the Falcon, what large size passenger vehicle will they sell?

I'd like to see the F Series truck and Mustang on sale here.

Why wait. It needed to be done and done as soon as possible to help the employees and give them time to find other employment. If they had said they were ending production today would that have been better???
Honestly some on here are so selfish. Ford in Aus will carry on with new models and we will find out what they are when they arrive, if you don't like it that's you perogative don't buy it , but that's the reason this happened in the first place because despite all the rhetoric on this forum not enough ere buying the cars. It's a sign of the times, it's not Fords fault, there is so much choice out there and people have chosen outside the Ford arena.
The sooner some here accept that and realise that the people hurt most by this are not us but those who are losing their jobs. Get over it or look forward the future Ford products.

Thing is, when BHP shut up the steelmaking plant in Newcastle, they announced it about 6 months out (I think it was?). They retrained everybody & found those who couldn't find alternate work a job, but 99% of employees were still there on closing day.

This Ford announcement is 3 & a bit years out, current employees are going to start looking into retraining & looking for other employment today. Those who find work will leave, not stay on till closing day.
Fords workforce will start decreasing from today, the workers positions Ford lose between now & then, they won't be able to won't be able to refill, because who in their right mind would take on a job knowing it won't be there in 3 years time, especially in this industry where you can spend your entire life working at the one company in the one job.

Ford will run short on workers, & production times (customer wait times) will blow out, they'll also get to a point where they don't have enough workers to continue production.
I hate to say it, but I don't see Australian Ford production making it till 2016.

Doubt that mate, most workers in the construction industry work on projects with a set timeframe to be completed and are sub contractors then when project is finished no job.

What's the construction industry, got to do with Ford production or BHP Steelworks?
Ford workers on the production line aren't on a "project" or sub contractors, & BHP Steel Newcastle didn't construct anything, they made steel out of Iron Ore. Workers there were like at Ford, BHP employees, many had worked in the one position at the one employer their entire working life.

Well that's the whole point really isn't it.........
They dont need to replace the Falcon because as a product - its in free fall decline and isnt something that needs to be replaced.
Question really is.......what medium sized car will FORD try and sell to address what the public really wants. They need to look at a lot more small capacity petrol and diesel / turbo diesel options if they are seriously going to compete. Otherwise the next step is mass dealership shutdowns........ We will be servicing our Fords for warranty work at Hyuandai dealerships.

They are now mate, a definate and stated end date, and a 3 and a bit year project, should it last that long, is a great opportunity to retrain if necessary, possibly at the expense of Ford and with Government support, and natural attrition might slow the production line, but Im sure some work is better than none in this difficult economic time and others will step up to take the role even short term. as sico stated its common practice, project lives, in some parts of the economy

Ford Fusion rather than Taurus since the global ford plans were for a C/D platform.

Maybe Capri, a two door Fusion top hat.

Ranger Wagon, badged as Territory in Australia.
