Default EL GT wheel's on an AU2...

ive got a mate selling his EB II *mock* XR6, cause it got defected and he is now buying an ex-chaser VN :jab: but, he has some EL GT wheels that he wants to sell me for $500. i know one or 2 have a couple of scrapes on them, and tires are about 50%

but my question is, will they fit? they might not look good, ill crack out photshop later, but i want to know if theyll fit before anything else.

again, no, because of the wheel offset..

wheels from pre AU will not go onto an AU+ safely...

no, if you were to put AU wheels onto an Eseries you need spacers, eseries wheel on au's will stick out past the guards!

lol, the problem with that is if you go over any bump, as the suspension travels the tyre will come into severe contact with the guard and mash it to pieces. the wheels would stick out about 3 - 5 cm

i have 0 offset rims on my AU fairlane..(18x8" wire wheels)
and the REAR is level with the guard..(needs rolling)
and the front sticks out about 3cm (needs flaring)

it does scrape any time i hit a large pothole or hit a dip at 100kmh in the road

the outter edge of the front tyres is getting carved up pretty bad
but the rear has only SLIGHT marks (more travel in the rear end so doesnt hit easy and the front dips into corners where as the *** doesnt)

im yet to get the guards flared as im pretty broke at the moment
and the rims dont hit THAT often

E series offset is 0. AU offset is 35 (at least), so 3.5cm, or 1.5" is the amount the wheels would stick out by, at a minimum.

You are driving around with illegal rims then. The maximum you are allowed to change the track (or width) is 25mm. Yours would be icreased by 70mm. It's not always about whether or not it hits, but about what is legal and what is not.

Use copies that suit the offset

I had an EBII with a set of 15" CSA Concept mags and 215/60R15 G Grid tyres. When I bought the AUI I fitted these wheels and tyres. I was told they wouldn't fit but they went on with no problems except for a 5% speedo error. There was no rubbing on the guards and only a slight protrusion outside the guards on the front. I have since fitted 205/65R15 tyres and they dont protrude at all on the front and the speedo is accurate as well. Is the offset stamped on the wheels at all?

Thx guys

I have seen an AU1 with EL wheels, I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the VERY early AU's may be running around with EL hubs? Not sure if this is possible though?

Mine is a 2000 AU1. My old man has an EF and the AU wheels went on the back ok but not the front. We also noticed that the rear wheels are sitting more inwards obviously it now has a narrower track.

There is a white AU XR6 getting around Wodonga with ELGT rims, it looks ok, but the wheels he has on are AU offset.

I had EL XR rims on my ute when I first bought it and changed the rims as soon as I could afford it. They stuck out the side up front about 2cm, but the rears where just on the inside of the tray.
