Default Show me your head unit!

Hi guys, I tried fitting an in dash TV to the falcon along with my old head unit and I couldnt get the TV to look presentable when it was closed.

This has put me off and I think Im just going to run a regular head unit now.

Does anyone have any pics of their aftermarket headunit setups? Does anyone have a TV in their AU?

Also is it possible to run an Alpine CD stacker with a different model headunit? My Sony deck has a different plug than the stacker.

Not possible to use the stacker. I have heard of people obtaining adaptors for the plugs, but I have never seen them with my own eyes.

Daniel.

I have an alpine HU with a clarion in dash screen, actually looks pretty good. Unfortunately I have not got any great pics of it, just a few crappy looking pics.

Does the screen tilt back all the way? How far does the unit stick out of the dash?

When closed the tv unit does not stick out at all it is flush with the surround. When open it tilts back far enough that the screen points a little upwards.
Sorry but my scanner has shit itself otherwise I would post a pic. Unfortunately Im in SA otherwise I would be happy to show you.
Im driving to Melbourne in July if your still interested that far away to check it out.

I have pretty much the same headunit for mine ... just gotta put it in now ... I got the speakers and amp as well. Just need the time to fit it.

I don't see the need for a TV in my ute ... I just want decent sound.

The easiest way would be to fit a 2DIN unit, but they are pricey.
I really like the Kenwood one, but it costs over $3k
Some details here

That is mine.

I probably wouldn't go double din with an AU, I've seen a few done n they don't look that good as the au dash moulds back under and ya have to build a custom fascia...

That looks pretty good, your console section is better than mine, I wonder if they can be swapped.

I think Im going to go with my old unit for now. Its in already but doesnt really sit the best. Later on I might get something else or do the whole touchscreen/carputer thing, that way I can try and mould it in so it looks factory. I dont really see much point in upgrading to another unit that will do the same things as my one does now.

Right now Im ripping all my CD's onto my Mp3 player. Im going to attach this to my stereo through the AUX input for my trip to NSW next week.

Thank guys
Dan

The little shelf looking thing under the unit ?

It was purchased from the car audio joint. You can either get one like a shelf or a flat panel with no space underneath.

I saw that earlier today, its a bit out of my price range though for the moment.

I think Ill be putting off the stereo for a while and getting a carputer setup happening once the car has been raced a few times and Im happy with it.
