Default XA Fairmont Coupe

I picked up a new project on the weekend, needs alot of work but it has good potential.
It came with a heap of spares & rust repair panels so I have enough to make a start with out having to chase up to much. The only problem I got is it came with a landau front, I do have an XA bonnet that came with it so I'll be chasing guards or my other option is XB guards as I already have a GS/GT XB bonnet.
The colour is calypso green with white interior, 302 single rail 4 speed fitted (was auto)
Probably wont be doing to much to it till after xmas as my work comitments get high this time of the year, but I'll throw up any fresh work as it happens.

Cheers Kerry

Congrats Kerry. Another one being lovingly restored.

What's the plans for it? Colour? Prefer Auto/Manual?? Going to keep it stock standard or are you going to customise it?

Thanks, I'll be keeping the colour as I do like that shade especially in 2pac & the white interior should look sweet. The engine will get a make over but to wot level I haven't work that out yet, I'll be making a few changes to accommodate new style wheels & tyres (yet to be chosen ) as it's getting harder to get old school rubber.
It'll be a few years before it hits the road though ( maybe Echca 2013 but i'm not holding my breath) lots to do.

A few more pics.

It's got all the standard rust and plenty of bog in the LH rear quarter so I've got my work cut out for next few years, but I'll aim for 2013

Yea that's the one. The LH rear is a bit ugly as it was pushed out and had the ripples bogged up, It'll need a new tail light panel but the rear quarter looks fixable. The LH sub frame looks ok so most of the damage is just panel.

One way to patch up a cold breeze

Hi Kerry, looks like a good base to build from. Will watch this with interest. Great to see the GT now has company.

Hi Anthony,
Will be making it a bit more driver friendly, so will probably drop in a 5 speed and a easier clutch. I'll work out a plan of attack over the next few months as I have a few different ideas I wouldn't mine doing but time & money will have the final say.
Cheers Kerry

Well done Kerry. That rear quarter will be easy fix after what we did to my race car coupe quarter. Need to send my mate Ian over for a couple of days, he would fix it.
Love the interior colour just need to lose the hole in the roof some how?
Looks like a good solid base for a soon to be very nice coupe.
Cheers Hagen

The hole in the roof did put me off a bit, but depending on how good or bad a job was done to fit it as to wot I'll do to fix it.

Not a big fan of sun roofs but the assembly is in not to bad of condition.

Can't wait to get stuck into it, I'm leaning strongly now towards keeping the XA look with factory spot lights as it was once fitted with them, so will be on the hunt for front guards.

Cheers Kerry

Just a small update, been picking up a few bits for the XA, still gota strip the new engine to see if it's rebuildable but pulled the sump and on quick inspection it's looking good.
So the Xa may end up with a big heart

Cheers Kerry.

Nice base for a project!

Wonder what "0350" means?

Hold on, is that a Windsor?

Good eye 460BB looks to be all standard but will know more once I pull it down.

The sun roof will stay, but it needs a bit of a tidy up around the opening.
Was hopeing to have made a start by now but had to sort a few problems with the XB before the Brissy GT nats, but I'm itching to get stuck into it once we're back from our trip.

Cheers Kerry

its so much grief getting rid of sunroofs.. You must have a decent engine stand, all mine sag a little with just a clevo on them. I think a 460 would bend mine in half.

Yea Doc would have preferred it with out the hole in the roof but the sun roof assy is in good nick just the hole looks to be a hack job. Should tidy up ok.
The engine stand did give out a little grone when I let the weight onto it. I made the stand a few years back when I did the engine in the XB. looking at going alloy heads & intake so should trim off a bit weight.
