hi fellow ford nuts,
just thought i would post up some pics of my current rebuild. goal is to get into the 10s with original engine, diff and auto. been doing little each day on manifold, still need to paint manifold and will do that tommorrow. mods to come are 4 inch exhaust and 2 inch sreamer pipe exiting car behind front tyre, dry ice intercooler prostock bonnet scoop as in pic msd, racing fuel and more boost. i think engine will make 300rwkws with this set up, time will tell........

Good project to attempt, but not with Original engine (do you mean no internal engine work at all? hope not). I think you'll do pretty well with a stock engine, but if your attempting 10's, don't you think you will be pickin up the remains of what once was an engine, down the 1/4 mile strip.
Besides that looks amazing, I hope you do achieve the 10's, will show all what our I6's are really capable off and what they can with stand. Keep up the good work.

stock motors are $300 why work it, you could buy 15 stockers for the price of one worked job.
I like the cold air idea, however would the loss by lengthening the exhaust manafold be offset by the cold air benifit?

imo i dont think the lenght will worry it, will give alot more high rpm power than my old log style manifold.

That is true. This design? Is it a 6/2 design into a split scroll exhaust housing??? Or an open colector design?

i like your idea, i would love to see how much power the ole I6 will make till it goes pop. but whats with the turbo comeing out of the bonnet, is it really nessesary? you will prob loose speed due to the wind drag.

this one is four into 2 1/2 inch pipe with the other two pots entering the 2 1/2 inch pipe on the sides, 200mm above that is the single entry turbo housing.

yes thats true to a point, this scoop is the most aero design avaliable. dont like running at the strip with head light out for cold air induction. this way light stays in and no one else has done this, makes the car stand out.

got the car going yesterday,
i welded -8 alloy screw fittings to where the hard steel line on the sixes was, it the one that goes into the rear of the water pump and around to the thermostat. used leftover hose, change to braided later. that where water is coming from to cool the turbo now. dump pipe is only 3 inch atm, used bits and pieces i had laying around. wastegate sreamer is 2 1/4 inch in size, venting to atmosphere. intercooler pipe is the same, bits and pieces to get it going. it will all be replaced with new intercooler and 4 inch exhaust. took it out for a blast last night, what a massive inprovement!!!!!! turbo lag????? no way, none what so ever. from a standing start instant wheel spin the hits boost hard and goes sideways. boost comes on @2800 which is same as log style manifold. revs all the way to 6000 rev cut now. so it shows the old manifold was restricting power in the high rpm range and shorter runners dont mean lower spool time. the overall lenght of each runner is approx 460mm + the 300mm lenght of 2 1/2 pipe = 760mm long runners and log one was only 250mm max for the longest runners (1 and 6) had kiwi in the back seat with the laptop, 36lb injectors are maxing out @ 10psi boost from memory 15psi @255rwkws A/F ratio was 11.0 and injectors at 98%. will wait for dyno comp in a couple weeks to see how a/f is. my geuss is power will rise and boost will drop, eg 260rwkws @ 12psi or there abouts. but i will be pumping the boost till it starts to lean out. adding solid engine mounts too, engine pulls hard over under load. got some pics too michael

thanks, i will be running it with both slicks and street rubber next time i run it.
ive cancelled the rego on it so i cant drive it on the road. yes i could put a small scoop on it and rego it again, but whats the ponit of driving a un enginered car on the road. i hit someone, law suit forsure.

just fitted up solid engine mounts after yesterdays test run.
mount under inlet manifold was split 2/3 way through. feels heaps more responsive from standing start.........
