Depends on where you are for Victoria,

Ute rego for me is a few hundred bucks cheaper than my Focus and Fiesta, because I'm regional,

However if you're in Melbourne, utes are more expensive than passenger vehicles.

You also get dicked on utes with toll roads, they're charged out at more.
