MB diesel filter cost

I'm happy to do most maintenance on the MB, but draw the line at changing the diesel filter. A local diesel specialist did it for me, but charged $109 for the filter!
Checking prices on the Supercheap website, a Fram filter is $104 and Ryco is $52, so there's clearly some variation in pricing.
They charged less than $30 to fit it, so I'm not too unhappy. But that seems like a ridiculous price for a fuel filter.
