Our council has been planting a variety of trees and shrubs in our area and the rainfall in the last quarter was sufficient for them to thrive, but some, usually eucalyptus trees, just seem to die. Two at the front of a house in the next street have both died while most of the others in the street (smaller trees or shrubs) are going fine.

I'd be fuming if council plated eucalyptus out the front of my house.
They're not called widow makers for no reason.
Street trees are supposed to have many benefits including raising real estate prices. Every single street in my area has council planted trees.
The street behind me got eucalyptus trees planted. We got something else, not sure what it is but hopefully it's better than eucalyptus.
