Buying amps etc is a very personal thing. What you like sound wise might not suit someone else. As far as the usual consumer brands go, you can rely on Yamaha, Dennon as a starting point. Others might have some suggestions. What ever you get take a good long look at the spec sheet. Dont be sold by the output claims. Find a couple that you think might be OK, then get their model numbers and then hit google for more real world info.
still tossing up whether to go 5 or 7.1 at this point. Probably 5 as the room is small medium sized (4.5x4.5x2.7H) At this point, I want clarity and quality at any given volume. Will be getting a 60"+ LED tv with it (yet to choose what brand) and I am looking for flush mount speakers that will fit in bulkheads, fake columns and ceilings. I want the streamlined look where you can hear the sound, but the look of the speaker doesnt detract from the appearance of the room. Hope that makes sense.
