Thanks mate, Im happy to got the 7.1 but wasnt sure if it was overkill for the room size. (refer attachment)

Im also going with a few layers of soundchek for reduced noise transfer between rooms and the flooring.

As for Blu-ray, my PS3 has it, and I was planning on running blu ray discs thru that as long as the quality of the sound is still good. I still to this day have not played a blue ray disc on that machine yet. lol just lazy.

Thoughts?
