Yeah I see your point looking at room layout, 5.1 would be just fine in that size room. Some would say 7.1 is overkill, not me. lol
Its just 7.1 content is becoming more available now.

It will be great room when finished, I love the little bar area on the side and the bulk heads. I wish I'd done that, maybe one day.

What's your plans with av equipment? Trust me once you have a dedicated HT you tend to acquire more gear over time. An AV rack built into a wall/column or similar might be an idea? Are you running any audio/visual to other areas of the house?
