I've found a lag on initial takeoff - though I think its mainly because I'm still using the accelerator like my last car, which was a 3.5Ltr V6. Now that I'm learning to plant it a bit heavier when I want to take off quickly (eg to turn right in front of on-coming traffic) I am having considerably less heart-in-mouth moments.
The turbo diesel definitely comes into its own at normal driving speeds when you want to overtake or climb hills - both these are effortless and theres much more response than the V6 ever had.
