The labour club in Canberra has a Pruis as a prize. If I win it, I am going to start up the Pruis Club of the ACT. :sm_headba

I'm very keen to do some in house testing. I want to see whether I can drink my car under the table. See who gets fully charged first. Plug the car into the power recharger and me into the beer fridge. : :eclipsee_

I recently had the misfortune of having to drive a Prius for a whole week as a hire car.
Not happy Jan!!!

I did feel like a bit of a goose when I had to ask the female car park attendant at the hertz depot why there was no key and I had absolutely no idea how to start the damn thing. She had to show me. Even less happy!!!

You have to stick the remote control into a slot on the dash and then press a button that looks exactly like the power button on a computer (only larger).

The u-beaut display lights up but it doesn't make a sound.

You then need to put your foot on the brake and flick a toggle switch to select drive.

You can then drive off and the bloody thing still hasn't made a sound.

The petrol engine kicks in a little while later based on the speed or the attempted acceleration.

I did average 4.9 litres per 100 kilometres over the week though. I had a fuel card and the company was paying so I wasn't too excited by the savings.

I usually get a Falcon hire car and I will definitely not be accepting a Prius again. I hated it.

I own six 1970's V8 cars and my daily driver is a 6cyl so a boot full of batteries just does not impress me!!! (I never actually checked out where the batteries were or even lifted the bonnet to have a look)
Sooo not interested!!!

You would be labelled an Earth Wrecker no doubt on the Prius site, you should have used no more than 4 litres for the 100kms

I lasted about 5 minutes, although to admit I was a bit harsh, but they said I had a case of "Prius Envy" WTF??

P.S. They also gave me a "Temporary" 23 year ban.

I drove up greenmount hill one afternoon and there was a prius waiting to turn left onto the highway and up the steep hill. From where it was, you would need a bit of power since its fairly steep and always lots of traffic. On the way down that night I saw it or an identical silver yawner going up the hill. like it was still going from earlier in the day. :

I wont buy electric till it puts out at least 300HP and sounds and smells like a cleavo.

I read his whole post, and the replies- oh man it cracked me up!
The funniest thing was that I have owned a red '82 cordia turbo 2ltr,and it was a toy,but a seriously quick toy...so I can see this guys addiction to the damn things. How sad is that...lol

And the prius?? Well, as my mates ex-wife says(who now owns one) "it's really great, and cheap,as long as you don't want to go fast anywhere..."

Funny you mention that Bucky. I saw that when I went there and being loaded up on the I was yelling out "Pftt Prius, who the would want to win that POS!" It would be a bastard to try and sell too :

I would be happy to assist with the testing too ;)

Then we can smash the crap out of it afterwards :

The problem is they aren't cheap, they are damn expensive for what they are. They are roughly the same size as a Corolla but cost twice as much, around $40,000. I guess suckers will pay a lot more just to think they are superior to others and to feel good that they are saving the environment. Misinformed fools. If you really wanted to help the environment you wouldn't have a car at all.

This line from "Godiva" is a beauty... "I think it's the fallout from owning a Prius. It makes you more.....centered. We have a higher tolerance for the uninitiated. We are balanced so we have the patience to explain and explain. We are focused.
we have reached a higher plain."
