Default Position Vacant - Speaker of Parliament

Now that Bronwyn has stepped down, who wants the job, and how much will you do it for ?

I will throw my hat in the ring for
$900,000 per annum
An FGX XR8 (no helicopter required)
20 weeks annual leave a year
Seems fair to me

Not here to discuss the political angle ! (Please be clear on this)

Just looking for volunteers willing to do the job at a reasonable cost

Just the cost to change the letterheads would buy me a FG F6

Ahhh, the sound's of well paid adults squabbling like 5 year olds over a lollipop, maybe $900,000. won't cut it

Minimum wage, all board and lodging, work expenses (travel, etc), and of course, be elected.
The latter is the hard part.
Probably suits a Sydney Swan player looking for a new career.

I think the problem is that there is far too much stuff they can claim, they get so accustomed to travelling all over the shop on the taxpayer's money, then they get caught out because suddenly they've travelled to a private (or party) function, with no "official government business" cover.

That said, a HELICOPTER??? I know the crods can be a bit rough down Geelong way, but a HELICOPTER?

I'm sure both mobs are as bad as each other. I just see on the news Abbot has said Bronny done wrong. He wasn't saying that this morn....... Certainly got a lot of Aussie's noses out of joint...........

She is an idiot who should have known better, she has caused a lot of damage, travel via private jet, then a helicopter. After all the recent issues with Thompson, Slipper to name a few, no wonder people look at politicians with much contempt.

They will have a difficult time finding any politician (on either side) who is squeaky clean as far as expenses go. Pick the least rotten in the barrel, good luck!

I disagree. That sets a poor example for the rest of them. 'Rort till you're caught then just pay it back'.

Many families are doing it tough and I believe some of the expenses she accrued are just so offensive / rude it's not funny.

They already have it great. The rest of it is pure greed.
