Default Seen a Brand New Mondeo Today

I was travelling back from work today and spotted a Silver Mondeo being unloaded from a transporter at Maughan Thiem Ford in Adelaide. Curiosity got the better of me so did a u turn stopped and had a perve. Very bloody nice.
2.5L, 5 cylinder Volvo engine. Leather (heated seats) and it uses a proximity key, all you do is keep the door opening fob in your pocket, keep the clutch pedal depressed and hit the starter button. Car looks horn in the flesh with a very nice flowing shape, and the room in the hatch was outstanding. Jumped in when they left it alone for a while and the seats were very comfortable and suportive. The front reminded me of the latest Massaratti. I think Ford will be on a winner with this Mondeo rang. Further badgering of the sales Manager revealed this particular vehicle will be used to train Ford Technicians at Trade School.

If they are all built like the one I had a gander at, then they are on a winner.

Why

There are no substantial problems with the current model, well not that I've come across anyway.

I hope it comes out with the 2.5 N/A 5 cyl. It'd be a good point of difference to the new Mazda 6 coming out soon with which it shares unerpinnings.

3 engines would be ideal. TDCi, 2.5 N/A and 2.5 Turbo! I'll take a TDCi Wagon with XR wheels and dark tint thanks!

The one I sat in, and started was the Volvo 2.5L N/A petrol model. Very quite & smooth. Hope they do the 2.5 turbo option, would look & perform well in the top of the range wagon. It's what Ford needs, a sporty wagon.

If i were to buy a "smaller" car, I would without doubt put my money down on one of these things, by the sounds of things, the Mondeo will be a huge hit.
Anyone got some good photos of the Australian version of the Mondeo, or are they ALL the same?

Did anyone here realise that New Zealand is getting the Sedan, Hatch AND Wagon.

Ford Mondeo NZ Minisite

What are import restrictions like from NZ? Surely not that bad, given the free ride a LOT of Kiwis get when the move to the Gold Coast. (Dont want to be starting a political free for all, just yet!)

Does anyone know what size the market for new cars is in NZ? Surely having the Australian market which one could assume is 3 times as big as NZ would have room to bring in all 3 models, and not just the Sedan/Hatch?

I can imagine a Mondeo Ghia Wagon Automatic Diesel would look nice in my garage
