AU dash removal

I have done a search and cant find exactly what i'm after which is tips on removing the whole AU dash.

any help appreciated thanx.

Do you really mean the whole dash? It's just that I've heard so many people refer to the centre section (radio, A/C fascia) as the "whole dash". Which of course it isn't. LOL.

Is your car a Falcon or Fairmont?

the whole shebang needs to come out! its only a miserly forte ;).........i know the centre section has to come out, i'm looking for a sequence of what to remove with least damage inflicted.

its not that hard...... but pretty labour intensive, i had another car to drive so i took my time and some items that could be a question mark on reasembly i put labels on, even cable tieing some cables wires in pozzy so i could locate them easier afterwards,
battery disconnect, glove box remove, passenger air bag cover and air bag, t`bar,console,radio, heater controls, dash gauges, once dash gauges are out it gives room to unclip some other buttons/controls behind the dash, front seats to give more room, kick panels assossiated plugs, steering column cover and plugs + bolts top and bottom....bottom from the rack end first iirc, pretty sure i took the steering wheel off to give me more room.......i`m not sure that was needed, unbolt unclip fuse box, big loom connectors, clip in access panels to the dash left and right .....you`ll see them when you open the door exposeing 2 bolts each side, a panel on top of the dash with 3 screws .....i think.....once removed shows some bolts holding the top of the dash, the green bolt is the earth, i`m not sure thats correct sequence but thats roughly how i did mine, someone might be able to correct any fo pars i`ve made or add what i missed, good luck.

What about just removing the climate control/range cluster on the fairlane/fairmont.

i had a go with a screw driver a few weeks back, couldnt lever the thing out. :/ That or i just wasnt trying hard enough.

Any opinions?

The Forte is now sporting a black dash! looks much better than the grey one, i'm very pleased.

you need to remove the head unit and ash tray first and remove 2 screws from behind both, then its all clips (pulls off)

Yeah. the evaporator gets full of lint fluff etc, blocking air flow. be nice if you could block the vents and just blow it all out again LOL

wrecked my au2 fairyG got a forte, so now the fairy is stripped to build up my au3 forte

up to removing the dash, seen a few threads, but I'm going to swap looms ecu bem etc. does the top dash part i got the 2 clips out, but cant remove the lot ? talk about clostraphobic, easier to remove the windscreen ;) half way there, back at it tomorrow.
