I know, I met him in the Cabramatta Inn one day, he's a big bugger, but your Avatar still freaks me out, the old one seems to fit " my idea of Trev the person " this new one sort of throws me off kilter a bit, lol....

it's OK, he is dead now, he can't hurt you anymore

You need to know the 'old' one looks NOTHING like me

Some people here think of me as a 'lefty' and a 'socialist' so I thought I would use my hero's picture as my avatar . I was old enough to vote for him in 1975, not that it did much good

No I picked you as just slightly left of centre, same as me, but I dident understand or have any interest in politics, I left Liverpool UK aged 15 in 1968, my world was one of adventure, wonderment and not a hint of unionism but was an avid reader of anything, but it was a novel I read and my memory is failing me rather fast now, but that is to be expected, but it was a novel by Thomas Hardy, that book directed me towards how my new life in Australia would pan out!

Don't want to google the book but am quite sure you know it!

Although I do feel sorry for people who haven't seen family for 12 months or more, but unfortunately that's the way it is.
My poor neighbours are in a bind with how this has gone. Sold the house before auction; basically were scammed half a million compared to adjacent sales, expected open borders to relocate in WA by end of September. Now the developers who bought them out are getting twitchy, the neighbours have nowhere to go, they mightn’t be my best mates but still neighbours - it hurts to see them saddled with worry and uncertainty.

Looking, too, at the WA vaccination rates, it’s going to be a while before much changes respective to “The West vs The Rest”.

Frank Hardy's Power without Glory would be a better read - gives an insight into the early Australian Labor Party - it was supposed to be a book of fiction but it was based very clearly on facts, just names changed to protect the innocent (or guilty)

Biggest problem in my life CB is worrying about others?
Can't stop it, even in my situation which is dire, am still there for others,
I can handle it all easy, you seem to as well, easy as standing on ya head, I feel sorry for the neighbours but that must be happening all over the East Coast!
You're a good man CB!

ever been south of Perth, all the way around to Israelite Bay?

ever been north of Perth, all the way to Wyndham & Kunanurra?

I have done both, and I envy them - it is a beautiful State with so much to see and explore

We traveled from Vict to W.A. (went into the now blocked Cocklebiddy cave) then turned left at the Balladonia Roadhouse then followed the path (mostly coast, but not all) to Perth

We traveled from Vict to Lake Argyle then south (mostly coast, but not all) to Perth (over 3 months)

or somethings Australians had to sacrifice in WWII and the preceding Depression, my parents lived through both

That's a pretty ignorant comment, I'll have to let my SIL know she can't go on holidays. Wait, too late, she's already gone via NT.
As the melbourne supporters who came here via NT found out, the border isn't in hard lock down really anyway, it's a sieve that only stops the plebs.

the fed controls the international borders, and we all have to wait for that govs permission. As far as states, direct flights coming all the time, already, they've never stopped, just conditions imposed but many ways around it.

NSW/VIC

NSW records 374 cases in the current period and the 10-day average growth rate increases to 0.9866 (from 0.9584) while the actual line moves further above the predictive trend line and is heading upward again.

VIC records 2,235 cases in the current period (the 2nd highest to date) and the 10-day average growth rate increases to 1.0449 (from 1.0089) while the actual line is back level with the predictive trend.

I feel sorry for the mid-20s chick at work here in Adelaide that yesterday was complaining she has not seen her family in Brisbane for "over 5 years".

It's got so bad that Covid stopped her visiting them for 3 years before the pandemic started. Meanwhile family friends holidayed in Qld from SA only a couple of months ago.

Thought I'd share my morning's experience with you all.

But before I get into today's details, I need to provide some background info from yesterday. My daughter booked in for her second moderna dose, about 30 mins or so before she was due to start work. She doesn't handle needles too well and was a bit frazzled beforehand. She got stressed because they took a while to get around to giving her the dose and she was worried she'd be late for work. Needless to say she didn't feel well afterwards: she was flushed, hot, felt nauseated and was dizzy. She soldiered on through work but really didn't feel much better.

She didn't feel like much for dinner, so didn't eat much. Went to bed about 10. I got woken up at 12 with her searching for some pain relief for her arm and a headache. Got her back off to sleep and hit the sack myself.

Got woken up again at 5:30 with her complaining of chest pains. Her breathing was very shallow and I figure she might be having a panic attack.

After a bit of discussion, we decide to head up to the emergency department. Arrive at the hospital and we're screened outside. Whilst waiting, I let the ex know what's going on and she decides to come up. My daughter is taken into a cubicle and I go back outside to wait for the ex to arrive. Ex gets here and goes in with my daughter (only one allowed at a time).

About 30 minutes later, ex texts me to say there's been an announcement that there is code yellow for x-ray , emergency and one other department. Nurse comes outside and tells me and one other person waiting outside that there has been a covid exposure and that the site may be considered a tier 1 exposure site and that they are awaiting advice in that. We're told not to leave as we may be required to test and isolate. My daughter and ex are not allowed to leave. Either.

So, it's now 11 and still no word as to what's going on. The code yellow happened about 8:30.

Looks like it could be a quiet weekend coming up.

Ignorant? Perhaps you are having a lack of thought......Quarantine free travel versus having to fly Via NT, then to somewhere else that actually goes somewhere - yeah that is a great gateway, I suppose in Darwin the one flight you will be able to connect to is the London flight that Perth has lost for the foreseeable future . But coming back, how do you get back into WA easily? Yeah do as you say and sneak in like the footy idiots, see where it got them. Meanwhile we will relax at home for a few days after an international trip.

Haven't you heard, the Feds have already made their call, it will be in November. As for being scared about travelling, not me, going to be living a life again. Already booked international for next year.

As you can see, yep I was super jealous of WA for the las six months being in prison in my home, but soon we will be free, and WA will just be a bigger prison.

Poor bugger has spread it far and wide

I used to be angry at the people who spread it, but with this DELTA variant people don't know they are crook until too far down the track
