Default Mondeo Vs Hyundai Accent

No! I am not looking to trade...

It has happened. The Mondeo is injured but will pull through...

So the Wife was turning right into a driveway near the crest of a hill and didn't see the on coming car :-( She is uninjured (other than pride)!

All in all I think the Deo held its own in the fight and came out the victor.. (low light phone pics is the best I got.)

I'll see if I can dig out some of the pictures of Mondeo vs Mazda 3. Was not pretty at all :(

probably will write off the hundi, it doesn't take much to rack up thousands of dollars damage these days, i just had my old lexus quoted for damage today for a simple side swipe which i thought was fairly minor , an old fella ran into me, he said to me that might polish out , i was nearly tempted to let it go......... was quoted $1400 for repair, holy mother of ...... car polish, glad i didn't let it go at that.

These days, .....scratch a panel and that will be $500 pls.
Panel work....hmm , probably $100 an hour labour charge. That is probably why you see so many panels replaced rather than try to pull anything more than a minor dent out.

I think true 'panel beaters' are a dying trade -people who actually shape panelwork. It is the modern name for 'coach builder'.
Anyone remember seeing Lindays Fox's replica D-type Jag at the Musuem of Australia 'Lost Trades' exhibition a few years ago - hand made by a coach builder. Truly gorgeous.......

Here is a better pic that shows most of the damage. Every left hand panel got hit...
They should be starting the repairs today.

So we got the car back. Got home and had a good look over it then checked it back in with a list of issues. Some silly issues but one of the main ones was that the paint work was Orange peel.

Take 2, but at least we got a free loan car this time.

So they polished the paint back to reduce the peel effect.
I made them fix the rims as they were reluctant. They said that the scratches were already there but the front was scratched to hell above the gutter line and the rear was damaged more then before the crash. The little FORD badges in the centre are still damaged but it just seems like too much effort to complain.
If given the choice I would not go back to these guys Cosgrove Smash Repairs even if they are NRMA approved. We have had work done at the place down the road and it was schmick.

In other news. Installed a dash cam today :-D Just a cheep one but better than nothing. Soon I can upload things like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ic-kTg4AZHg (I think that the 'victim' in this actually cut off the angry guy)

Ok, so the front bumper looks like it has dropped down on the Left hand side and the whole thing is skewed. We will be calling NRMA tomorrow to see if we can take it somewhere else. We have no confidence in the workmanship of this place.

That's a bummer above the quality of the 'recommended repairer' workmanship.
Big deep breath, It will all get sorted eventually. Repairs are guranteed for life of vehicle (or at least while you own it).

Can only reinforce providing some frank and honest feedback to NRMA about their preferred repairer. Hard to argue with the facts.

OK, the car has been sent back, 3rd time lucky I suppose. The assessor has given assurances that he will make sure it is done right.

Tne Mazda 6 courtesy car is so very small. I am not sure how they are compared in the same class with the Mondeos...

Good luck third time around.

Mondeo is bigger than a Falcon inside.
Mazda 6 is more Honda Accord Euro class....

Ok, got it back again this morning! 5 weeks total they have now had the car.

It looks a lot better now. They had missed some damage, just a small thing of the Radiator needing to be replaced... Replaced the replacement lower grill that they broke, the little FORD hub caps that they kept missing and apparently checked that everything was actually done up tight. We will see what we can find over the coming days.

Well if you regard it as a bonus ........

But you could look at the contacts list if the keyboard isn't locked to see if you can see a contact likely to be close to the owner and give them a call...

Or check the carrier symbol and take it to the closest sales outlet, explain the situation and then let them get in touch with the owner. The IMEI(?) number would identify who the company sold the phone to.

Pity the Mondeo repair gave you grief. Hopefully everything is now sorted.

Good luck

Funny story, I figured out that the owner of the iphone was actually the manager at the smash repairers. He had lost it 4 months ago. 100s of pics of smashed cars was a hint but the iCloud ID was their email address.

The good angel on my shoulder made me tell them and I will be giving it back to him when we trade the cars back.

Hi,

Thankfully no one was hurt in the accident and hopefully all your issues will be sorted out soon. It is frustrating having to go back a number of times to get things sorted out properly. It would be great to see pics of the car after it has been repaired.

Cheers,

rxj.

Got my Deo back! She is all red and shiny. :-D
The new rear bumper is more red than the rest of the car but it should fade in.

The Honda Accord Euro courtesy car didn't really impress. Not sure why everyone talks them up.

Good to hear you finally got it back. Have had a Euro as a drive car occasionally and while they are Ok they aren't a match for the Mondeo with regards to performance or space. Nice finish and dash though.
