Default 2007 Fiesta Zetec air-conditioning lacks punch.

G'day,
I've had my fiesta for a little over a year now and the air-conditioning has STRUGGLED to the point of working up a solid sweat on anything over a 30 degree day.
It blows slightly cool air, but not even remotely enough to cool the car.

From what I've read this seems to be reasonably common. Anything from 'low pressure' to 'low refrigerant level from the factory'.

Before I go to an air conditioning specialist and get talked into spending way more than I need to, is there any chance a specialist will 'top up' my refrigerant?
Also, can anybody recommend anyone in the Penrith/Richmond region?

Thanks guys.

Not a fiesta owner , but just making an observation from my falcon , the air con unit worked without fault for 7 years before it needed attention , at that stage the pump was leaking/had leaked out out of the front seal , if your car has had no work done on the ac , i would be expecting it to need some tlc, some people top up the gas, and it lasts for a while,
but i think the way to go is get it tested for leaks and go from there, if there are worn parts /leaky seals, topping it up with gas will only be a temporary fix.
In my book better off to do what is needed to make it last /repair properly and have no leaks than bother rooting around .... ie need to get the bugger regassed next year.
as for the efficiency of the unit when its working in good condition, from new , , sorry i cant be much help there.

I had the same problem with my 04 Fiesta a few years back. Had it topped up ( that cost about $100 as I opted to have one of those mobile ones) and within a fortnight it went back to blowing cool air. Had it checked out and it turned out the a/c unit was buggered, all up it ended up just shy of a grand.

Thanks a lot mate. You were spot on.
Pollen filter was filthy and slightly moldy.
Replaced with new item.

Cheers
