Just a warning guys who are travelling between Sydney and Canberra. I live on the Federal Highway about 26km from Canberra and since Thursday night, there is a massive police presence on the Federal Highway.

They have set up with around 20 highway cars, a command centre and drug dogs. So once you come up out of Lake George (from Sydney) the highways cars start patrolling and about 10 or 15 mins drive further on is where they have set up. It is just the Sydney side of the Yass River Bridge for those of you with GPS. Yass River Bridge is about 20km from Canberra.

I have never seen such a big presence in this area, except the last time someone escaped from Goulbourn Goal.

I understand this is a drug focus police blitz, but it seems this is also coinciding with SummerNats.

There is also now a new speed camera set up in the 80 km/h zone as you come down the big hill into Canberra, just before the big roundabout at the petrol station and all those old town buildings on your left.

Hey there Mark thanks very much on the heads up, I was speaking to a couple of our interstate drivers today about this and they were saying the same about the police.

I think the old cruise control might be in use all the way down in the morning.
