MC Mondeo. Diesel fumes

Hi all, just lately car has been getting fumey, especially if sitting, idling and coming to a stop after a Highway run. No smoke. No loss of power, idle a bit rough at times.
I have had vehicle serviced, new filters, including cabin filter. Also had a forced regen.
Exhaust is ok according to mechanic.
Where else do I look.
Could it be injector seals. Cheers

Have a look at inst. fuel consumption.
It sounds to me typical of a filter-burn.

What do you mean by filter burn. Fuel filter was replaced after forced regen.
I get between 900 and 1200 Klms per tank.
Haven’t checked instrument fuel consumption

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
The car injects additional, heated diesel into the filter to achieve a soot burn-off.
If this happens whilst stationary, you will hear a pulsing of the exhaust note, and a significant increase in ist. fuel consumption.

Did a dealer do the forced burn-off for you. I had one want to charge a ridiculous amount to do one, even when combined with a service :-/

Burn off was done a diesel service centre, not ford. I have noticed pulsing at different times when travelling long distance, hasn’t done it for a while though.

OK. I had a regen occur whilst driving in to work this morning.
Inst fuel was 2.5L/hr idling. Up from around 1 normally.

I am going for a decent drive today so I will pay more attention to L/hr figures.

It could be one or more leaking injector seals. It's easy to check, just take the plastic cover off (3 × 8mm hex head screws). It should be nice and clean under there.
If a seal is leaking it coats everything with a light film of diesel which burns off as the engine gets hot, and ends up like bitumen.

Be very careful tightening the injector clamps, they look strong but they're very brittle.

This - or the injector return line, when it breaks it fills the rocker cover with diesel which then smokes up and you smell it in the cabin.

I've had both the injector seals and the injector return line crap out on my TDCI Focus

Hi, Finally got car to mechanic. Has leaking seals. Do you know where I can source said seals, collets, etc

Unfortunately mine was done under warranty at around 30,000km, its a PSA DW10 engine also shared with some Citroen/Peugeot models.

Your mechanic might be able to get them from overseas if they can't get them through Ford anymore if they're NLA.
