Default Two-tone EA

I'm considering painting my EA Ghia with an SVO-style two-tone job, but instead of SVO silver/grey, having either a gloss or matte black. At the same time I wanna black out the rear taillights and boot garnish and put LEDs in the taillights to make them more visible through the tint.

Anyway, here's a couple of chops i did to see what it might look like, i reckon it doesn't look half bad, would certainly get some attention down the street . What do you guys think? Also, has anyone done anything like this before and got any pics of other two-tone e-series?

Ok do that chop again, but have the c pillar the same black as the molds.

I just not sure about the blue.

Quick dodgy job on the C pillar. Couldn't quite get it to look 'right'.

I reckon it looks better in blue. I know the SVO's had the blacked-out pillars but yeah.

Although, i'd be repainting the door handles and all the faded trims black at the same time as doing this job so it wouldn't be hard to do the pillar as well.

Not a fan of the blue mist...
Maybe if it were red and gloss black though?

This is something I have been considering for my EB too.

A quick chop.

Might be just what it needs to make it stand out a little from the crowd.

It's also something I have considered for my EA (since my front bumper is currently black). Here's a chop by TICKFORD_XR6 of my car

Nice. I reckon it looks the goods with silver over black. You could sort of say my car's half silver, that pale metallic blue lol. I saw some guys build thread where he had done the same colours as you ea_silver_ghia, but there were no pics of it (bar a tiny one in his avatar)

Anyone experienced with painting think a job like this can be done to good effect with spray cans? As long as it was all primed properly (with spray cans) and sanded etc. If so, what kind of paint - the higher quality "touch up paint", or the $3 aussie export crap? I used $3 primer and $3 gloss black on my B pillars a couple weeks ago (done after the pics in the chops above) and its holding up fine. I'm just worried about the fact that the bumpers flex and this might crack the paint?

It could be a good idea to grab an extra pair of bumpers from a wreckers and trial painting on those, then if i like the way it looks and the finish is good i can do the same on the door section.

I wouldn't use spray cans for a big job like that. It would look quite patchy, and just wouldn't look good. It would be best to get a compressor and spray gun, and buy a few litres of paint. It would look a LOT better. The spray cans are fine for painting small areas, but I wouldn't do half a car with them.

I'm probably going to go straight silver with mine anyway. I don't mind the silver over black, but I really want to see the lines of the bodykit (including the other skirts that are yet to go on)

Ok sorry guys, but nether of them look that great. The black is too much on the bottom.

The red one works as they grey is better (or we are just used to the proper SVO look).

If it is not a SVO or a EA Sprint it just does not look right.
