Hello!

I am picking up my new mondeo TDCi on Saturday in thunder with bluetooth, leather seats and sunroof.

My question is I have an ipod, how do you connect the ipod into the sound system. What do I need! any connections!

Thanks for your help! :

Ok, I use my iPod in my Mondeo. It's very simple, all you need is a cable. Male headphone 3.5mm to male headphone 3.5mm. Plug it the head phone jack on your iPod and then in to the AUX jack in the glovebox. Now you may find the volume low, so I turn my up all the way and you have to turn up the volume stereo usually to about 15-20. Don't forget to turn down the volume when going to the CD or radio.

I have purchased a iPod radio transmitter which is a cradle and charges the iPod. So I plug it into the AC plug in the dash, it holds my iPod so I have easy access to it and it charges it at the same time. I just don't use the fm transmitter. Works great.

You can still close the glove box even with the cable plugged in.

Something like this is what I use.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-3-in-1-Ca...QQcmdZViewItem

It works better than just sticking it in the glove box.

Hope that helps.

Oh and don't forget to set the EQ. It will sound better.

Has anyone with an ipod and bluetooth equipped Mondeo tried out one of those ipod bluetooth adaptors you can get, such as:

http://www.mrgadget.com.au/2006/12/j...h-adapter.html

I have a non-ipod mp3 player so it won't work for me, but from what I can figure out you should be able to plug the adaptor into your ipod and play it through your stereo, without the need for the annoying cable hanging out the glovebox?

Just wondering! (No responsiblity taken if you get one and it DOESN't do this!! )

Maybe ok, but you will loose audio quality with one of those. And I am pretty sure that the Mondeo would not work with it as it would need to have A2DP which lets you play Stereo music through bluetooth.

Hi Jared,

So theres an even LOWER audio quality than mp3...?!

And what is this A2DP of which you speak - wasn't he in Star Wars?

MP3 can be high quality, it depends on what bit rate you rip the songs at. I rip all my music at 256kb, so it's pretty much the same as a CD. You would be hard pressed in hearing the difference. They just take up more space on my iPod.

As for A2DP, it's just technology that allows a device to stream stereo music to another. But the Mondeo's don't have it, so you can't do it. Your better off to just plug it in.

I can't get enough volume using my Ipod.

I find you have the HU cranked nearly all the way up if you want moderately loud music.

Also if you turn up the iPod volume the quality degrades :(

You could try one of these devices it sees the Ipod as a FM station which should give you better volume

The one I use is a FM transmitter, however, the audio quality is far worse than the AUX input, so I only use for charging and as a cradle. Plus if you are in a city, you will find that you will get a lot of interference from other stations. It's true about the volume. You do have to crank it. But you can get enough volume. I find that between 15-20 on the volume is best.

Another option is this
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=156032

It will charge your iPod and is also an amplifier, so you can get more volume from your iPod. I haven't used one and I had a friend that used one in is Honda CRV, he said he got engine noise through the audio. But I think his car had issues. So I can't be sure if they will work or not. But it would be a solution. I just turn up the volume and I am fine with that.

I run through the aux on mine and don't have any problems with volume or quality.

And when I bought my car the dealer found a company in the UK whcih specialises in making ipod integration kits. They then found out that they were making one for the new mondeo so it would be contolled from the steering wheel and display song infromation through the convers+ display. It also charges the ipod at the same time.

They have ordered one for me and it should hopefully show up in the next couple of weeks (once they actually release it). Once it is installed I will post photos and post on how good it is.

fairly similar I think

From what I understand after it is installed you plug your ipod into a dock down by the cigarette lighter. Song information is displayed on the convers+ display and you can control it from the sterring wheel.

It is made by these people

That is awesome news, can you please find out what the model of the kit is? I am very interested.

Cheers.

Sorry I don't have more info on it, as far as I am aware it hasn't even been released as of yet. I do not know how my dealer set it up, but I cant wait because having to change the songs through the ipod controls is a pain.

I will do a detailed post once I have it installed, which will include where it came from and the model number.

I'm keen too on this adaptor thingo. Will it work on cars without the flash-o XR5 display? That sounds like a fair chunk of people on here. Would be great, as i hate the AUX line that comes up on the display, on the stereo and between the dials.

my understanding is that it will work on any new mondeo. On the XR5 it displays on the radio and the convers+. On any other model just through the radio.

Maybe I'm getting too old but why go to all of this trouble when a CD is 650MB in capacity and the average sample rate for Ipod is 128k per song and allow 3 Mb per Mp3 so you have over 216,666 Mp3's on a cd with the ability to do folders am I missing something!!
