Default LS Focus Zetec- AUX Problem Audio Jack Input (ipod)

Hi Guys,
My Girlfriend has a 2007 Focus LS Zetec. The Audio jack in the glovebox seems to be a little quirky, even with different cables i purchased, it switches between left and right, or not at all, and if dodgy. Is this a known issue, or does anyone know how to remove/replace/repair this ?

Edit
Also i have tried to remove the port itself by using a screwdriver and prying it towards me, no luck unfortunately, just seemed like i was going to snap it...
